Proud doesn’t describe it..

As many of you know, 5 years ago, DM was a cloverbud getting ready to show his first cow ever! The excitement was on point for all of us (nerves for this mama though). I made it to his show with his boots with 25 mins to spare (Made excellent time if I do say so myself 💪🏻). When I walked into the barn, he was nowhere to be found. My immediate thoughts were “oh shit! He’s in the ring already and he doesn’t have his boots on!” Until I heard a scream. A very painful scream, and someone come up to me with tears in their eyes and telling me “he’s going to be okay.” I instantly dropped his boots and ran outside to see my son on the ground screaming, an off duty EMT cutting his clothes off of him yelling for an ambulance. My heart dropped. I can’t remember much of what happened after that, besides calling my boss telling her I wouldn’t be at work the next day, DM had been trampled by his cow and was headed to Strong Hospital with significant injuries. I remember calling my father in-law and asking him to take me to the hospital because I couldn’t drive. I watched them switch ambulances in front of my in route to load my son up on morphine and in a better equipped vehicle to handle extreme emergencies.

Long story short, a little internal bruising, a broken femur, 2 surgeries, 5 days in the hospital, 6 weeks in a wheelchair, 6 weeks of PT, he’s a normal, athletic, spit fire!

Let’s get to the “proud” part. This kid has shown cows ever since his injury. He took first place this year in his weight class. Proud doesn’t describe my feelings, and the tears? Oh the tears! He never ceases to amaze me!

Proud mama moment!

Tonight, this kid moved up to a Boy Scout! I couldn’t be more proud of his hard work and dedication to making it this far! He surprised me by allowing me to stand up with him and I was able to pin his arrow on him!

This recruiters class is highly entertaining and they’re only two weeks in. This guy right here is seriously a Pegasus among marines. He’s gonna recruit kids with his singing ability and his hilarious commentary on everything. I’ve hung it with him a few times now and interacted with him a ton at work and I can certainly see him going far in the marines. #karaokenight #marinesareentertaining #hesgoingplaces

Even though Delta and their personal vendetta against made me miss half the reading, I still wanted to just how how very proud I am of this amazingly talented man. Tonight he had his writing performed by an insanely talented group of actors in front of industry people and Broadway professionals. He is the most incredible person I have ever met.
