today i rant about yin saikhara (nezha's annoying mother) so beware spoilers of the dragon republic. and also tw: sexual abuse, mentions of death, cursing and no sympathy for her

I HATED HER THE SECOND SHE WAS MENTIONED.

the first thing i know about her is that she was raised in the west and had bc of it tried implementing their ways in arlong. that meant no abortions for rapes. the fact alone that she was trying to impose foreign rules and religion onto citizens was bad. so that was a terrible start.

next thing i know about her is that she sees rin and immediately orders to open fire against her. i quite like rin, i'm not a fan of ppl suddenly opening fire at her for no apparent reason. she doesn't even acknowledge it as a mistake when they tell her she needs rin. by then i've officially decided i don't like her

then she goes on to throw a fit in front of anyone bc omg wdym Rin doesn't wanna be experimented on, nuh uh, that's unacceptable. (here comes into play the fact that nobody other than the cike and kitay has actually counted rin as a person. bc let's face it, she was a weapon for vaisra and nezha might love her, but he listens to daddy first. so im furious and it only adds to the fact).

the hesperians only fuel my hate for her as they go on about the way they view the world. she thinks shes like them when i highly doubt they even think of her as a fucking equal, but she's so untouchable and she mingles with them and the creator likes her. FUCK YOU. YOU DONT KNOW SHIT AND YOU DONT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANYTHING BEYOND YOUR SIGHT. maybe your creator does exist, im not saying it doesnt. but why does that automatically mean the rest of the gods are chaos? ierhgiuhehiorghwerhjirehirue i have so much rage contained towards these imbeciles i swear.

ALSO. your son can't be fixed you idiot. i'm sorry, i really am (and this is genuine, bc even so, i have hope for nezha starting the burning god) but your son has been cursed by a god, and there's no getting rid of him now. he's literally engraved into his skin so... i do feel a little bit of satisfaction knowing that she doesn't get what she wants

ALSO ALSO. the seer audacity she carries about everything. omg i cant stand herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr idek what else to say im just consumed in hate for her and her buddies and her husband. i could summon the phoenix myself i swear

punishing rin with a fucking whip and accusing her of shit thats not even her fault like bitch do you know anything??? do you have common sense?????? making rin watch while they execute baji and suni and being like smug and shit. i cheered when you got burnt.

As a person of Asian descent, I can’t shake the anger gnawing at me that the Hesperian’s stuck up ideology about being the superior race might have some truth value.

The obvious parallel is of colonialism taking over much of the asian continent, but is it true? It can’t be that one race of humans is superior, can it? But when I go and visit my extended family and see the way they live under old straw roofs and how they often get into petty squabbles over land, religion, and honor… it makes me wonder if the land my parents immigrated to, the land of foreign people who made it so hard for me to be accepted, are they genetically better than me?

Because how were the Hesperians so ahead with their technology when the Nikaran clung desperately to their old beliefs and what value is there in these old beliefs in a modern world moving much faster than my theology’s traditions supported?
