°˖➴ 𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨 — Every night, Lee Heeseung dreams of a girl named Y/N in a strange world that feels far too real to be a dream. When objects, memories, and even physical marks begin leaking from the dream into reality, he realizes Y/N isn’t just a figment of his imagination. As they search for each other in the waking world, they uncover a connection that has tied their souls together across lifetimes. But the closer they get, the more they learn that they are star-crossed lovers destined to find each other..and destined to lose each other.

Lee Heeseung knew he was dreaming.
The realization came the same way every night. One moment he would be drifting off in his room, tired after a long day, and the next he would find himself gazing at a glittering sky that no real place could possibly have. The fluffy clouds were colored in a white tinted gold, drifting through shades of dreamy pink and deep drunken violet that appeared to radiate light from within. The places in this world seemed to change when he diverted his eyes. A restaurant would morph into a bookstore if he looked away for too long. Pink street lamps would sometimes appear even if there weren’t any there prior. Sometimes entire roads changed their directions like thread being pulled through a needle. This world acted like a dream, well it was a dream anyways.
And yet, it truly never felt that way.
Most dreams blurred at the edges. They fell apart the second you questioned them. This place only became clearer the longer he stayed.
The sound of water echoed nearby.
Heeseung already knew what he would find before he turned the corner.
She was there.
Waiting beside the fountain.
And her name was Y/N.
Somehow, Heeseung knew that.
He couldn’t remember when she’d told him. He couldn’t remember whether she’d introduced herself during their first dream or their tenth. The beginning of all this felt fuzzy, like a page that had been torn out of a book before he could read it.
But he knew her name.
Y/N.
The certainty lived in his mind as naturally as his own.
“There you are.”
Y/N looked up from the edge of the fountain and smiled.
Not a surprised smile.
Not an excited smile.
Just the kind of smile you’d give someone you expected to see.
Heeseung walked over, shoving his hands into his pockets.
“You say that every time.”
“Because you’re always late.”
“I don’t think dreams have schedules.”
She laughed.
The sound echoed across the square, light and familiar.
For some reason, hearing it always made him feel relieved.
Like he’d finally arrived somewhere he was supposed to be.
Which was ridiculous.
Because Y/N wasn’t real.
She couldn’t be.
She only existed here.
In this strange dream that refused to leave him alone.
Yet every night she was waiting, and every night they picked up exactly where they’d left off.
Sometimes they wandered through streets that twisted endlessly in impossible directions. Sometimes they sat on rooftops overlooking a city that changed shape every few minutes. Sometimes they stayed by the fountain and talked for what felt like hours.
Y/N always asked strange questions.
Questions nobody else asked him.
“What do you think people misunderstand about you the most?”
“What would you do if nobody expected anything from you?”
“When was the last time you felt completely happy?”
He never understood why those questions stayed with him long after he woke up.
But they did.
The dream stayed with him too.
That was the problem.
Every morning he woke up remembering Y/N perfectly.
Not just pieces of her.
Everything.
Her voice.
Her smile.
The way she crossed her arms whenever she thought he was being stubborn.
The way she looked at him sometimes, like she knew something he didn’t.
Dreams weren’t supposed to work like that.
Dreams were supposed to fade.
Y/N never did.
By the second week, Jungwon noticed.
“You’ve been staring at the wall for like five minutes.”
Heeseung looked up.
Across the room, Jungwon was eyeing him suspiciously.
“I’m tired.”
“No.”
Jungwon pointed immediately.
“That’s not your tired face.”
“I have a tired face?”
“You have several.”
Heeseung groaned.
Unfortunately, that only encouraged him.
Jungwon leaned forward.
“Okay. What’s going on?”
“Nothing.”
“You’re lying.”
“I’m not.”
“You absolutely are.”
Heeseung sighed.
He should have kept his mouth shut.
Instead, he said, “I’ve been having weird dreams.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Jungwon sat up straighter.
“What kind of dreams?”
“Just dreams.”
“That doesn’t answer the question.”
“It’s not important.”
“If it wasn’t important, you wouldn’t have brought it up.”
Unfortunately, Jungwon had a point.
Heeseung rubbed the back of his neck.
“It’s the same dream.”
“Every night?”
“Basically.”
Jungwon blinked.
Then narrowed his eyes.
Then blinked again.
“Oh.”
“What?”
“Oh, there’s a girl.”
“There isn’t.”
“There is.”
“There isn’t.”
“There absolutely is.”
Heeseung already regretted this conversation.
Jungwon pointed at him dramatically.
“You’re dreaming about a girl.”
“I’m not.”
“You hesitated.”
“That doesn’t mean anything.”
“What’s her name?”
The question caught him off guard.
Without thinking, Heeseung answered.
“Y/N.”
Silence.
Complete silence.
Jungwon stared.
Heeseung stared back.
Then Jungwon’s jaw dropped.
“YOU KNOW HER NAME?”
Realization crashed into Heeseung a second too late.
“Oh.”
“Oh?” Jungwon repeated. “OH?”
“It’s not a big deal.”
“It’s a huge deal.”
“It isn’t.”
“You learned dream lore.”
“That’s not a thing.”
“That’s absolutely a thing.”
Heeseung buried his face in his hands.
Across the table, Jungwon looked seconds away from crying from laughter.
“You have a recurring dream girl.”
“Stop.”
“You know her name.”
“Stop.”
“And you’re pretending you’re not attached.”
“I’m not attached.”
“You remember details about her.”
Heeseung didn’t answer.
Jungwon pointed aggressively.
“See? That’s the silence of guilt.”
“You’re unbelievable.”
“No, you’re unbelievable. You’re out here forming emotional connections with a girl who only exists when you’re unconscious.”
The worst part was that Jungwon wasn’t entirely wrong.
Because later that night, as Heeseung lay in bed staring at the ceiling, he found himself wondering whether Y/N would be waiting by the fountain again.
The answer came as soon as he fell asleep.
Of course she was.
The dream welcomed him back with its impossible sky and shifting streets.
Y/N was already sitting by the fountain when he arrived.
She smiled when she saw him.
“There you are.”
For some reason, Heeseung smiled back.
They talked for a while.
About nothing important.
At least, that’s what it felt like.
Eventually Y/N tilted her head.
“You seem distracted tonight.”
Heeseung hesitated.
Then he laughed quietly.
“My friend thinks I’m crazy.”
“Why?”
“He found out about you.”
Y/N looked amused.
“Found out?”
“He thinks it’s weird that I know your name.”
For a moment, something changed.
The smile on her face faltered.
Only slightly.
Only for a second.
But Heeseung noticed.
And somehow, that tiny reaction felt more important than anything she’d ever said.
“Y/N?”
She looked away toward the fountain.
The water reflected the strange colors of the sky above them.
When she finally spoke, her voice was quieter.
“Maybe he’s right.”
Heeseung frowned.
“About what?”
Y/N didn’t answer immediately.
The wind drifted through the square.
For the first time since he’d met her, she looked uncertain.
Like she was thinking about something she didn’t want to say.
Finally, she looked back at him.
And when she smiled, it wasn’t her usual smile.
It looked sad.
Just for a second.
Then it was gone.
“Nothing,” she said softly.
But somehow, Heeseung knew she was lying.
