Spiked Cider Recipe
All of our fruitcake musings have made us thirsty for one of the most glorious holiday drinks available: Spiked Apple Cider. It's like apple juice! For drunk adults!
Spiked Apple Cider
1 c Apple Cider or Juice
1 cinnamon stick
Whole cloves
Nutmeg
1 oz dark rum or apple brandy
Orange slice
Rim mug with sugar
Place 1 c of Apple Cider in a small sauce pan on the stove. You can also use a microwave but come on, the stove is way better.
Add 1 cinnamon stick and 1-2 whole cloves as desired to the cider while warming up. Sprinkle a dash of nutmeg in.
Let mixture steep for 3-5 minutes as the cider heats to a slow simmer, stirring occasionally.
If desired, dip the rim of the mug in water and then sugar.
Place 1oz of dark rum or apple brandy into the mug. Pour hot cider through a sieve or just fish out the spices with a spoon and into the mug.
Garnish with an orange wedge and cinnamon stick.
Laugh merrily as you drink your way to fruity oblivion.
