I have so many thoughts because of Ichi the Witch chapter 92 that I just have to get them out! (Obvs spoilers!)
So obviously I liked this chapter! I like the possible setup this one has for my favorite girl (besides dess!), though I do have 2 main theories on how the next arc will go down.
1- Kumugi is the brains of the operation and helps either Ichi or Amadoro acquire Hakari.
So there (to my dismay) there is a possibility of this happening that I have to acknowledge in case it happens. Though in no way do I think this will be written bad! My personal ideas for this I actually think could go well! Mugi would probably not be in the forefront until near the end, either saving the girls or being the most valuable aid to the person who actually acquires Hakari. If she saves the girls or helping acquire, I can see her being thanked and praised by them, giving her some confidence. Giving her the confidence boost to her capabilities (since she already has a bit of confidence in standing up for herself and her wants from talking back to her sister).
Also this can be given proof in the fact that Ichi has asked and looked to Kumugi for guidance and help (Ichi saying in the beginning of the story that he’ll ’have Kumugi teach him magic’ and him asking advice for using his money, for example) previously. This info paired with the actual panel having Ichi looking at her, and having Kumugi being the reason they’re helping with just the rest going along (aka her guiding the rest towards this path) is evidence for why this might happen. Like we get shown that Kumugi not feeling confident in herself and relating to Amadoro’s want to make up for not doing enough. A perfect layup to her being the most helpful support, and getting the praise and headpats she deserves.
Tldr Kumugi will be guiding them this time into victory!
Or
2- Kumugi acquires Hakari herself! (aka the one everyone, me included, wants)
This is gonna be longer cause I have more thoughts.
I think this would be wonderful, especially if she acquires Hakari during chapter 100 (since she’s been here since chapter 4)! It would really show how not useless she is by giving her a full win (like Hakari is her version of an ‘Ariel Victory Dress’). Also there is a lot that can be done with in the future if we go this route. Mugi can get a one up over the sister (and by extension her family) by having her first majik being a strong one! Hakari can either hate Mugi at the beginning then slowly grow to like her or (my personal preference) have Kumugi being the only witch they like. Even in the finale, Hakari can be like ‘sorry I’m a Mugi stan so I can’t let you do that’! Much fun to be had.
So the evidence for this more recent (which puts it into the forefront of audiences’ minds sot they speculate on this idea more). First, Hakari has shown that they can ‘like’ (?) humans with their compliment towards Amadoro (they praise her bravery in not being afraid of them and protecting the ‘brats’ from them). So, that shows they can be open to witches possibly. Stronger evidence is when they yell at Fujimine and say all the traits they hate in witches (arrogant, possessive, over confident, patronizing). They also say why they hate witches, talking about how they treat Majiks like slaves use them however they please. Now…on its own it doesn’t seem like it’s setup for Kumugi acquiring them. But right after Hakari announces that they won’t be acquire by a witch, we see Kumugi. This last part is kinda setup like a Butch Hartman gag, like a ‘what could go wrong’ one. All of this makes for a good setup for her acquiring Hakari.
Also Boxster is joining them! Obviously he has to come (seven stars -> Fujimine/World Hater Majik) but this also helps as it adds more high contrast! Everyone else in this group can be easily mistaken for having all the traits that Hakari hates (even if they can acquire majiks). Ichi and Desscaras all use their Majiks to their advantage in fights while also being confident in their chances of winning. Dess especially can come off as arrogant when she interacts (tho I still love my babygirl!). Amadoro is a full fledged witch so she probably has Majiks that she uses, plus she most likely will come in confident thinking that now she can take down Hakari. Gokuraku also can be a bit cocky in fights (aka over confident). Now, out of all the Magikeepers Boxster is the one who can show off Hakari’ least like traits the most. Like, yeah, the rest can seem over confident, but Boxster whole deal is pretty much seeming like an arrogant guy while the others have other gimmicks (obviously I think we’ll see more to him coming up, but off the bat thats what he is). The only one left is Kumugi. The only trait I can think that she might be misinterpreted to have is being patronizing, but this can be very easily dismissed by having her doing something good (like protecting the captive girls or even standing up for the Majiks Sukemaru!).
But this all hinges on what Hakari’s trial, which I think I might have an idea on what it is!
Now figuring out this Majik’s trail can be hard since we don’t have that many to reference. BUT! From what we’ve seen they seem to have a couple of similarities. All trials are perceived as hard (whether by witch’s or majiks’ standards). All of Dess’s Majiks’ trails were hard in concept to do, and the ones we’ve seen Ichi do can also be seen are hard for witches to accomplish. The second similarity between trials is that they are, at least on some level, based on the magic and/or personality of the Majik. We see with Dess’s that they were more based on the type of magic they can do (answering questions, sitting on a needle, shooting a bullseye). While with Ichi they seemed to be based more on personality and what the Majik values (Urawashi =make her fabulous, Inazuri =catch them without dying, Ururo =misogyny). We even see one that combines aspects of both with Hitsugi having a trial were Dess has to offer 1000 deaths (in line with their personality and values) which is done by re-killing people they already ‘reversed’ (relating to their magic)!
Now we don’t know that much about Hakari’s magic, but I don’t think that’s gonna be that important. Why? Cause we find out way more about their personality and values even before their trail has given out! Like, let’s take a step back and remember that this was made by people who are making decisions for the betterment of their story. They decided that we need to see Hakari’s personality more than their magic abilities. That was more important (even if it’s meant to be more of a surprise, we still could have seen another vague display like with Amadoro). Personally, I think the trail will be more based on them hating on witches. And what better trail to give a witch then one that would make most not want to even try, a trail based on what Hakari hates in witches! Now I don’t have anything specific, but I think the trail will be more to do with proving them wrong about witches. It might be kinda degrading like ‘becoming a servant to them’ or even just simply ‘showing them that you’re not bad’ (it could even be funny if it’s looks like those old dating shows or even like a stage performance for framing). Also, if it’s more personality based than Kumugi acquiring them might be more likely to happen!
Anyway, this took a while to write, especially since I wanted to get it out before the next chapter, so I’m gonna stop rambling now bye~
