Part 25 is Hey, Al by Arthur Yorinks in my favorite books of childhood.
This is a charming book with beautiful pictures (by Richard Egielski) about a man and his dog that learn to stop whining about what they don't have and treasure what they do. The story goes that Al and his dog, Eddie are very unhappy. Al has a dull job as a janitor which only makes enough money for a tiny one room apartment and not much else. Al and Eddie constantly bemoan the fact that they have so little when one day a huge bird pokes his head in the window and offers them the chance of a lifetime; to come and live in paradise. Paradise is wonderful at first, then Al and Eddie find that they are turning into birds!
I'm reminded of the part from Pinocchio when the boys on Pleasure Island turn into donkeys. Only this has a happier ending with Al and Eddie (after a close call) making it home safe and sound and with a better appreciation for the truly important things in life.
