I do think it's kind of funny how john green wrote a book about tuberculosis that brought a lot of renewed attention to the subject and he's since become the darling of the tb world, speaks at tb conferences, my dad and every other tb researcher I know is absolutely smitten with him, and they'll be like "we love this guy! have you heard of him??" and I have to be like well yes, I have. for other reasons
#my mother is like oh yes isn't he the guy who wrote about amsterdam? bc she saw the fault in our stars movie once and that's all she got#somehow#but like in all sincerity i think the tb thing is cool and it's great to have more ppl paying attention & realizing it's not a bygone issue#esp in an era of public health funding disintegrating#it's just so funny to have my supervisor for one of my jobs (tb adjacent) be like omg i got a selfie w john green#everyone is gonna be so jealous of me :))))#john green#tuberculosis#skravler
