Important stuff:

You can, and should, be critical of things without actively attacking the thing, because criticism can, and should, come from a place of interest in The Thing being better than it is.

Sometimes people seem to forget this and immediately take any small complaint as a Full On Attack and then immediately shut it down, thus, preventing any further conversation about The Thing That's Wrong With The Thing therefore preventing Righting The Wrong.

So, the next time you're faced with criticism towards you, something you made, something you love or feel strongly about, whatever it may be; before going off on a rampage about everyone being a hater and a critic and defending The Thing: take a deep breath and consider: is this comment actually hateful or am I just too emotionally involved to recognize constructive criticism?
