Why the Box Left for Techno Means the Prison was Built for Dream
/rp
So in recent prison lore (yay!) we’ve got Techno breaking out with Phil’s help, and then using the information Dream gave him, finds a “giftbox” full of blueprints and one signed book, presumably the prison blueprints cc!Dream had commissioned all those months ago.
This, is substantial proof for the Dream staged the disc war finale theory in order to be put into Pandora and had commissioned the prison for himself. And confirms that at the very least, Dream believed he’d eventually be put into the prison, and would need Techno’s help to break out.
But why? Well! First off let’s look at the logistics of the “giftbox”.
1) Who put the box there? Dream is the obvious choice, but it’s also possible he asked Ranboo to put the box there during one of Ranboo’s visits. But looking at it closely, why would he ask Ranboo to hide a box with blueprints somewhere that only meant something to Dream and Techno, when he could’ve just asked Ranboo to deliver its contents to Techno directly? Why not ask Ranboo to help him escape using said blueprints? And since it’s impossible for him to have made those blueprints from within the prison or for Ranboo to take them out, he had to have already had them prepared beforehand, so why not just put them there himself while he had the chance? So that only leaves Dream as the culprit. Which means that at some point Dream prepared a bunch of blueprints and a book, at a place where only he and Techno would know about, with the expectation that they would be useful one day. Like, for example, the day he’s locked up in prison and needs to escape. And he had to have done all that before he was locked up, as it’s physically impossible for him to do so now.
2) The contents of the box. It’s a signed book and a bunch of blueprints, presumably of the prison. Now why would Dream have that unless it’s because he expected he’d need them later? And why would he expect to need blueprints to his own prison to give to someone else unless he believed or knew that he’d be the one to be locked up in there? Unless he’d built the prison for the sole purpose of locking himself up?
3) Location. Dream could’ve put the box anywhere on the server. He didn’t need to use the mountain where he and Techno first met. But he did so anyways. Why? Because it’s meant for Techno, and only Techno. That place only has meaning to Dream and Technoblade. To anyone else it’s just a random spot on the server. But to Dream and Techno, it means so much more. Also, the dude literally memorized the coordinates of where he was standing. And continued to remember the coordinates long into his stay in Pandora.
Other factors:
1) The favor. All the way back in like, December, Dream and Techno have a brief confrontation over Tommy, where Techno asks Dream if he wanted to “cash in” the favor he got for saving Techno’s (and Carl’s) life. Dream says no, and talks about how he already has “something in mind” for Techno’s favor. The favor is then brought up again by Dream after Tommy’s revival, about how Dream is going to use Techno’s favor to break out of prison. This is set up. Chekhov’s gun. Narratively, it makes sense that the favor is going to be used to break Dream out of prison, that the favor would entail the giftbox he left for Techno on that mountain.
Conclusion: Dream built the prison with the intention of being its only prisoner and that everything was staged from the beginning. Or, at the very least, believed there was a strong possibility of him being locked up in there later.
The blueprints are only useful to him if he’s the prisoner, and had to have been made and placed long before he was ever locked up in Pandora. He put them somewhere that only had meaning for him and Technoblade, which indicates that it’s something meant specifically for Techno to find. He already had a plan for Techno’s favor, long before the prison was finished and way before he’d gotten locked up. He memorized the coordinates to the place he’d hidden the box.
None of this makes any sense for Dream to do unless Dream knew he was going to be locked up in Pandora or was preparing for that eventuality. In other words, everything was staged from the beginning, and he always knew he was going to end up in Pandora during the final disc war confrontation.
