Unsettling!Reader x TF141 (P1)
I very much feel the need to continue this post and perhaps turn it into a series.
Fair warning, there isn't a lot of TF141 in this part, like.. theres barely any at all. But the next part will focus on them!
For as long as you could remember, you had always been labeled as 'odd'. You never quite understood why, nor did you really care for that matter. After all, why should you care about what Miss Marjorie thinks about you as you pass by her at the corner store? She's an old lady, everything is probably odd to her. Hell, two girls kissing would probably send her into shock. You supposed nobody had told her about her granddaughter yet... 'Bless her heart', as the people from your town would say. You learned quickly that that phrase wasn't actually wishing blessings upon anybody's heart, and was instead a way of saying somebody was an utter idiot without actually saying that somebody was an utter idiot. Growing up where you did, you had to learn to read into these things. Not just the words from their mouth but the messages their actions conveyed as well. When you were younger, you hadn't ever been good at that. Often getting confused by what people tried to say when they talked to you, rarely ever aware of trends that your peers were. Instead, you watched what appealed to you instead of the masses, thus landing you the label as 'The weird kid' or 'The quiet kid'.
Its safe to say that you never really had that many actual friends, and you supposed thats why it was so easy to leave. The second you had the chance, you left. You didn't really care where you ended up, honestly, you just wanted out. To a place where being 'odd' was normal, useful, even. And so, you joined the military. You passed the ASVAB test with flying colors and did damn good in basic training, insanely well, actually. You managed to impress quite a few of the higher-ups. And terrify everybody else. Something about a 'staring problem'? You don't quite remember. You weren't fully listening, far too busy listening to the praises of whoever the sergeant watching you was. (They didn't get a look at your face the whole spar, they never did, if they had, they too probably would've been atleast a little frightened by the borderline crazed look in your eyes.)
So of course, you had all kinds of special teams wanting to recruit you from all your sergeants recommendations. The guy had been kind enough to place you in a damn good one too. Its one you served in for around four years, but you had never been all that attached to them. They didn't exactly make an effort to include you in anything other than missions. Something about you being 'creepy'. A girl, Aria, probably the closest thing you had to a friend was even been kind enough to tell you that you looked like 'one of those old freaky haunted thrift store dolls'. You assumed she likely meant antique store. You had never seen a doll like that at a thrift store before, if you had, you would've grabbed it in a heart beat; You love dolls! Either way, you'll take the compliment any day. But when you thanked her she furrowed her brows, Much to your confusion. Was that not the correct thing to say?
"No, [Reader]. Thats not a good thing." She said with a scoff. "I'm serious! You're creepy. You know, you'd probably look good if you acted normal, but you're terrifying!"
You turned your head to the side in confusion, looking at her for a moment before looking off to the side, eyes narrowing in thought.
"Babes, the reason you're so good on field is probably because you terrify the enemy so much they damn near piss themselves. If you ever found a way to make yourself even scarier I'm pretty sure you'd qualify for the best soldier ever solely because every enemy would die at the sight of you, thinking you were some giant creepy possessed doll or something!" She continued. Your eyes flicked back to her, a hopeful gleam in your eyes. She blinked a few times. "Uh.. You alright?"
"Do you really mean all that?" You asked hopefully, hands reaching out to grab hers, as if it would stop her from lying. She sputtered for a moment at the contact, it was rather unexpected. You weren't exactly a touchy person.
"Uhh.. I mean.. yeah! Look at you, you're already a freak.. if you manage to be even more of one i'd be shocked." She grumbled, turning her head away from you as you smiled. You seemed excited. She couldn't let you catch her admiring the rare sight.
"Aria, you're the best!" You exclaimed before running off.
Oh.
God, what had she just done?
You ordered a venetian mask that night, one of those doll looking ones, it took a while to arrive, but once it did and you put it on, your new look was basically sealed. It even inspired you to sew some black lace onto your uniform and style your hair to be more doll like.
And it worked! The enemies were terrified of you even more so now!
Unfortunately, so were your teammates. Save for Aria, who, for some reason seemed to be lingering around you more often recently. Even so, you still got transferred within a month. Very few went to see you off, but among them was Aria. Of all the people there, she was the only one who actually bothered to speak to you.
"Uh.. atleast try to stay safe. Alright?" She said. Of all the things you had expected to hear from her, her sounding worried about you wasn't one of them. She was also looking at you kinda funny.. wonder what thats about. Oh well.
"Okay." You replied simply, before getting into the truck.
Unfortunately, your place in your next team was even shorter. You were only there for a year before they were looking for ways to get rid of you. You were freakishly overqualified, creepy as hell, and had a certain penchant for sneaking out of base or just doing some random bullshit. In desperation, they ended up sending your file to a certain lady who happened to take great interest in it.
Which is exactly how your file ended up on Price's desk while he was talking it over with Laswell on the phone. "I'll take 'em."
Someone gave the most amazing idea of like a reader whose wendigo themed, which gave me the worlds best idea ever so I also might be making that eventually.. or maybe turning it into its own new fic.
I also might make a KorTac variant of this fic. Mainly because I don't see many KorTac x Reader fics sadly.
Anyways, please be nice, this is my first ever actual fic sorry if its bad
lmk if you want to be added to the taglist!!
