I don’t really have a favourite movie - I have phases where I love a movie and then the next one comes along and i’m like wOAHcurrent favourite is probably Hotarubi No Mori e (‘Light Of The Firefly Forest’), an anime film whose art style and plot are fantastically wonderful. First time I watched it, unaware of the ending, I sobbed for half an hour. Not crying - full on, can-barely-get-a-breath-through-the-sobs sobbing. I still cry if I watch it now, even two years later.

for the first ever Christmas I was away from home it turned out to be my Grandma’s last. I regret choosing to be abroad when I should have been home for my Grandma’s last Christmas.

My eighteenth. We went to see Derren Brown’s new show and met him afterwards. He stole my glasses.

Probably my sixteenth, maybe? It was okay but I was being bullied at the time and I didn’t have a party because I didn’t really have anyone to invite.

Probably working seven days a week in a hellish job to save enough money to travel to Africa on my own

Probably with my mum a couple of years ago. I remember screaming at her asking what she wanted to hear from me and she just went quiet and just said ‘i don’t know, anymore.’ god it was awful. Haven’t really fought with her since.

I was happy - I had just enough money in a job I loved.

a reoccurring nightmare - we’re living in our old house and I wake up in the middle of the night to the house on fire and all my family aren’t there

Once again we go back to my time in Africa! I remember after being there for about a week. We were all piled into a taxi going somewhere and we were driving past the beach, Wake Me Up blasting from the radio, and I remember closing my eyes and finally realised that holy shit, i did this - i got here on my own and i’m having the time of my life

everyone hated me because i was the reason tennis racquets were banned in school. I was on the playground one day and a ball came flying at my face, making my head fly back into a brick wall, knocking me outhence the school banned tennispeople said it was my fault

first day there. first time meeting Mr. Stevens, a science teacher. He looked me up and down and said “Are your parents dwarves?”

there was this guy in secondary school who was really creepy and at times genuinely scary in the stuff he used to say. I’m uncomfortable with men anyway and he couldn’t get it into his head that I didn’t like him touching me at random moments e.g. rubbing my shoulder/hugging menot really turning someone down but that’s as close as???

the graveyard near my primary school. Every day mum used to pick my brother and I up from the school with Bouncer (our first dog) and we used to walk through the graveyard asking mum to read the writing on some of the graves and talking about what kind of a person they may have beengod i read that back and that sounds so weird???

- that i wasn’t broken like i thought i was at age 15-18- that i didn’t deserve or ask for that man to hurt me- that i would eventually be okay and happy- that tattoos actually kick ass- that i’d lose my grandma when i did. i should have spent more time with her and taken her out to lunch when i fuckin had the chance to like three days before she passed away

very recently i have been able to begin to accept that you know what? i’m pretty damn awesome. this marks the beginning of the end of years of self-hatred and insecurities. It’ll take a while but i think that one day i’ll be able to look at myself in the mirror, smile, and mean it.
