Trying to find stock photos to make book covers feels like an ever-evolving game of 4D chess in which I try to reverse-engineer the jackson pollock spray of keywords from the dingdongs who uploaded them. "beautiful young woman with pointed ears and a bow" SIR THAT IS AN ELF. LET'S CALL A SPADE A SPADE SO I CAN FIND IT AND PAY YOU FOR IT
@andhumanslovedstories hates me and my interests
AND FINE, while I'm already navel-gazing, I'll come out and say it: I regret nuking my previous blog back in 2020. Turns out destroying 8 years of personal history with the click of a few buttons isn't a decision to be made in the midst of an emotional crisis :/
Kinda weird being at a point in my life now where I'm just not really writing fanfic. I never really thought this would happen! Fanfic was such a HUGE part of my life in college and the years afterward, it was my primary avenue of creative expression, and it brought me so much joy. And if you told me there'd be a time in my life when I hadn't posted a fic in almost two years, that would really bum me out.
But like, it's fine? I've shifted a lot of that energy into original works, which is challenging and satisfying and feels good, but I also definitely miss the sense of validation from fanfic (<guy who is going back through unread comments on my fic from the past year)
No way would I go back to being the person I was in 2017-2020 or living the life I was living then, but I gotta say I miss the absolute feral drive to write that came with fandom obsession. and what this tells me is that i need to plan my next original project around something that channels that level of mouth-frothing insanity :)
