HGIC Post: Thanksgiving Style
Hey Gems! Ilana here! I'm University of Arizona's HGIC!
Now that Halloween is over and I can finally put the cat ears, tiaras and tutus away for another year, it’s time to start thinking about my next favorite holiday; Thanksgiving. When I think of Thanksgiving, I think about the food (because anyone who says they don’t love that canned cranberry jelly you only get to eat once a year is totally lying), seeing my family and friends, and of course what I’m going to wear! I start planning my Thanksgiving outfit weeks in advance and use the holiday as an excuse to take a shopping trip. This year, I’m getting my fashion inspiration from the trends I’ve been seeing on campus with the help of my Style Scouts and on The Hunt app.
Cropped sweaters and skater skirts have been all the rage since fall finally rolled into Tucson. Since it’s Thanksgiving, a crimson or maroon colored sweater is majorly festive, and your stomach will be thanking you for choosing a loose fitted skirt once the heavy meal is over. Pair it with your favorite boots, booties, tights or knee socks, and you’ve got the perfect outfit to wear to your Thanksgiving dinner!
If the skater skirt and cropped sweater look just isn’t for you, don’t worry, here’s an equally as awesome alternative; the shirt dress. I’ve seen more shirt dresses on the University of Arizona campus than I can count! Shirt dresses are so perfect because they can easily be dressed down for class or dressed up for a fancy dinner. Spice it up for Thanksgiving dinner with an infinity scarf for a more casual look or a statement necklace for a more posh event.
