I kinda headcanon that the reason all the life and death energy was able to work and be stored in the compass, was because of the ghosties power. The ghosties are kind of like a bridge between life and death, and having their souls intertwined with it, gave the compass a direction to Dapper and Pomme, and also basically redirected the energy from the sensors to the compass :3 I love ghostie lore almost as much as Lumi and Shade lore xD.
