A cold shiver run down Hogan's back. He took the time to look at everybody he could see before he followed the German officer out of the barracks.

The hot sun failed to warm his cold hands.

He had taken the gamble and now he could just hope that he hadn't signed the death sentence of his men.

Scenes from Kat ByBee’s Prisoners of the Christmas Truce.

Go read it before you look at the pictures, because it’s a compelling story of tragedy and forgiveness, and I could see the whole thing in my head. (It looked way better than this.)

Above, Benjamin Newkirk and Wilhelm Klink shake hands in no-man’s land to cement the Christmas truce.

The truce flag is standing right behind us, because it was super distracting, and looking at humans is much more interesting.

Benji and Wilhelm, are captured by an artist among the soldiers on Christmas Eve, Wilhelm drawn out of his shell by the irrepressible Englishman. 

I just realised that my life-long battle with Left and Right has struck again, and I reversed the description from Kat’s lovely text. Oh dear. Just for a moment, look at the world through my eyes and pretend left is right, and vise versa, please.

The memory of the accident is forever burned into Klink’s mind. Francis kneeling on the ice beside his injured friend.

This moving scene deserved more than my treatment, but hopefully you’ll read the story and enjoy it in that context. I’ll admit that it was really beyond my art capabilities.
