thanks for the ask! my VA AU!!!! tbh i’ve had the idea ever since i learned that zs originally wanted to be one, but never had any motivation to do anything with it 😅 however, it was revived lateish last year (thank you, marrow!) 🎉🎉🎉

i (like a lot of people) was socked in the face by ysqs during the latest yyyjh2 season. by episode 4 i was sweating by episode 5 i was resigned. actually, i’ve seen a lot of ysqs shows! everything they’ve been on together (iirc)! it’s a weird thing to look back on. i’ve seen them in yyyjh1/2, 中国唱将, kaitui, 我们的歌, 快乐大本营, and even mmcj3?? ugh. mmcj3. 

 once again, 宇水情深 is my personal ship name for lyn/zs ^^ their ‘official’ one (aka it's the most popular on lofter) is 宁静深远.

despite my dislike for the show itself, ysqs’ mmcj3 is where i drew my main VA AU insp. i really love making references to misc zstv in my work!! this is typically in the form of random zs knowledge, but i’ve made use of zs’ (and lyn’s) mmcj characters for both the VA AU and got it good. 

the reason both get the mmcj treatment is because both involve secret identities/identity porn. i loveeee identity porn. in the VA AU, zs moonlights as a phone sex operator 🥰🥰he was originally a VA for steamy danmei audiobooks, but quickly discovered that phone sex operation was a lott more monetarily viable; even so, his real calling is voice acting ^^ the fic starts with his first legit r15 VA job!! where he plays a side character in a shounen audio drama with established VA liu yuning!! who mayy or may not have just become the patron of a mysterious female phone sex operator 👍

what i like about a VA setup is that there’s an opportunity to not only work with troupes i like in the main story, but also in the story that zs and lyn are acting. i ❤️cliche story troupes etc.. in terms of themes, i wld love to explore zs’ relationship with gender in both his personal life and performances!! although as a shorter fic it won’t be tooo heavy

the VA AU is something i am 100% certain will be fun to work on, so i’m not thinking about it. i assume it will do what my ballboy AU did to me and build an extreme amount of pressure in my head until i have no choice but to 落笔 😔 but i actually want to finish my teachers AU, so i’ve shoved it in a dark corner of my mind for now. clenches fist. these homosexuals.

thank you for the ask, hidey!! this stupid teachers AU lsdjdhsf my winner of the Most Plot Overhauls award. the world’s biggest headache. if only we weren’t madly in love 🤚

i first had the idea to write this fic at the end of 2024. i tried, wrote abt 3k, and decided that it wasn’t sparking joy! so i dropped it. wrote a couple of other fics, picked this one back up, got distracted and wrote a couple more fics, etc. but we’re here now and i swear i’m finishing it this time (i’m abt ⅔ of the way through at the moment! ~30k)!!! as i mentioned in the ask game post, it’s a wt23 fic ^^ it was either wt23 or c21, but wt23 won because it had a) a mentor cast w pairings that were more attractive to me b) the useful position of being *after* c21, which allowed me to reference c21 itself for plot reasons c) women. 

the fic will be a combination of 4 storylines across 5 POVs ^^ those POVs being zs’, jackson’s, and the POVs of 3 of their students. i’m having lots of fun writing outsider POV for zs and jackson’s relationship (the nature of which is a running gag ahdshas) + each of the students have their own arc that parallels, catalyses, or contrasts the main one!!! they also allow me to explore more aspects of school life and thus make this fic highly personal 😊 soooo much of myself and my own experiences

“周老师，王副校长来了……” Everything snaps forward in an instant: Zhou-laoshi’s head whips to the door and Vice-Principal Wang’s face flits to blank. Huang Yubo squeals a little, high in his throat. Zhou-laoshi and Vice-Principal Wang look at each other like they’ve both been caught doing something they shouldn’t have— and Lyly understands. So they’re, like, gay married. Okay.

Lyly 🥰🥰there will be quite a number of embedded TLs for the Chinese in this fic as well; my ballboy AU was just practice. writing zs’ chinese dialogue is a lot of pressure ahhda however it has improved how i approach his english dialogue!! and i feel that i’ve learned (am learning) so much from all the (long.. stressful..) restructuring and revisions. it’s a big departure from my normal work!!! but this felt like the only way to tell the story i wanted to tell. i’m using it to explore my thoughts on zs’ work schedule, what it means when falling in love, and what it means to take (or not to take) a better option. there’s an entire student storyline about sending an email. etc. my them hashtag #mythem!!! very excited to share!!!!!
