Clark Kent (Sept 21 2013)
A few weeks ago I was at the ALAIZ Invazion and the homie Dr. MaD asked me: "Have you ever drawn... yourself?", to which I answered "yes" without a thought. But I soon realized that maybe in a sense he was right to ask...
Last night I performed at Hip Hop Karaoke Montreal with the talented Sam I Am and Leah McFly, costumes and all. After getting the get-up and make-up off, fellow legend Chuko called me the "Clark Kent of HHK". Of course I laughed hysterically, but then it hit me: it really doesn't take much to lead a double life. One on stage vs one at school, one on paper vs. one in real life, but based on symbolic interactionism, everyone is always living a double life, because you're never who you really are until you're alone... or is your existence only validated by having it bounce off of others?I even find myself introducing myself with two different names because one connotes my past and people who've seen me change, the other connotes what I choose to exteriorize and put out into the world... but whether people know it or not, I am always both, and they are one.
