10.4.20 Lunchtime drawing: I love the history of New York! Here’s a historic building in Brooklyn, “The Old Stone House Building is a reconstruction of the 1699 Vechte-Cortelyou House. Located in Washington Park, on the border of Park Slope and Gowanus in Brooklyn, it marks the place where the original Dutch farmstead stood and the culminating engagement of the 1776 Battle of Brooklyn took place.”

#Repost @archtober Starting in the Boogie Down, @hhtnyc has taken over Archtober's IG for the day! The Bronx is home to 4 of 23 historic house sites under the Historic House Trust of NYC umbrella. Starting with the 19th century Greek revival @bartow_pell mansion in the heart of Pelham Bay Park, Bartow-Pell Mansion home and garden is truly picturesque. Heading west to visit two of the Bronx County Historical Society (@bronxhistorian) sites are the Valentine-Varian House and Edgar Allan Poe Cottage. Valentine-Varian House is an 18th century Georgian style home and where you can learn about the diverse and interesting history of the Bronx. Edgar Allan Poe Cottage is a 19th century wood frame farm cottage where he lived, loved and lost his beloved wife Virginia. The modest cottage is where he wrote some of his notable poems "Annabel Lee" and "The Bells." Last stop in the Bronx is the mid-18th century Georgian manor of @vchmnyc.
