HTTPS is now mandatory for a website to be ranked well by Google
Last year, for the very first time, Google stated that HTTPS will be considered while ranking websites but it won’t matter a lot but now, the leading search engine has stated that based on search impressions, the top ten websites on its search console are now all HTTPS. So, it can be concluded with absolute certainty that Google has developed a penchant for HTTPS and all webmasters now need to embrace HTTPS.
So, what is HTTPS and why Google wants each and every website to be embellished with it? HTTPS stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure and it is used to protect the exchange of information between the browser and the server in such a way that it becomes impossible for anyone else to access any part of the concerned exchange of information.
The effectiveness of HTTPS lies in the fact that it encrypts the data which is being sent by the client to the server and vice versa in order to eliminate the involvement of any third party. HTTPS ensures that the concerned data can’t be changed by anyone.
Google has always done its best to ensure that only the user-friendly websites enjoy great ranking on its search engine and its transition towards favouring HTTPS is also a great effort to ensure the security of its users.
All the major websites across the globe are aware of the importance of HTTPS and consequently, they have embraced it. Gone are the days when HTTPS was only used by banks and ecommerce giants for their websites.
All public websites of the United States of America, will embrace HTTPS. After Google’s announcement, it seems highly likely that very soon, all webmasters will bid farewell to HTTP and opt for HTTPS.
