They were friends and if there was one thing that Paine valued about herself, it was that she could speak the truth when it wasnecessary. This felt like one of those times.
“Maybe we should give up on the hunt for this sphere. Is it really so important?” She rested her weight on her left side, her head cocked a little to the left too. But this felt different..If it was really eating up at Yuna so much, was it really worth chasing in the first place?

at paine’s response, the thoughts in her head quieted. yuna hadn’t even considered giving up on finding the sphere — it was never in her intentions, despite the weight of stress — or rather, confusion — it had begun to put on her. ever since seeing the sphere of him, it had set up residency in her mind: the idea that he was still here, that he was still alive, that there was a chance that she would be able to see him again. sometimes she’d think herself foolish, but... they just seemed too alike for it to be some coincidence. right?
closing her eyes, yuna took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself. her mind had stopped throbbing with the thoughts and whispers of the past, the what ifs that were the cause of her earlier statement. the former summoner kept her head down, eyes looking down at her hands as they fiddled with each other.
finally, she looked up at her friend. mindlessly, her hand moved toward the emblem on her chest - the emblem of the zanarkand abes.
