matakyou to onaji asu ga kuru performance review pt 2 bc im emotional and i like to type nino essays
i don’t you why would anyone read this but im going to use lyrics for markers on the parts im going to attempt to analyse the solo objectively on
a) why the camera was on wide pan during those parts/what it was trying to achieve
b) the usage of the light poles/arrows for stage effect and how much it justified the wide pan because it’s probably the entire reason why the majority of wonder-love/matakyou is on wide pan
c)other solo things
p.s im still going to throw in personal comments tho so like haha
so before the lyrics come in the, for front melody♪, i cannot really understand why they would start on a wide pan because like the light poles did not do much and it was like the start where you could actually zoom in but hey maybe they wanted to set the mood/context that this was what they were going with? maybe it was to show the mood of the song? idk.
to really contextualise and give a shortcut to what im going to explain from now on, i’ll be using the term “solidarity” (personally) to represent the mood of the song because i keep on getting the feel of an inner struggle for matakyou as a song, the feel of a song trying to express loneliness? darkness? angst? and hence the wide usage of the dark stage against the spotlight. maybe the wide pan was to emphasis this? about how this song really represents solidarity and darkness because like there’s so little brightness and its really hard to see im making shit up at this point opps
so back to the song yeah. i wanted a zoom to be thrown in at this part [1] (im just going to count the parts i really needed the zoom so yeah).
once the lyrics came in, the wide pan was generally alright for me personally and you could see the lights starting to go along with the beats and dance of matakyou especially at
♪ ちょっと怖くて 取り出せなくって
where the lights panned on and off according to the hand movements so yeah, i see where you’re going concert staff! we continue to see the light poles beating according to the song-great! it’s even kinda aesthetically nice
i’ll commend the staff for the close up for

because we gotta give praise where it’s due yeah?
so i’ll accept the wide pan for the 1st chorus-y part, i didn’t really get the value of the light pole effects until maybe the really strong bass beats at
♪ 僕の中でまだ君の声は 特別なままそこにいるんだ
where the lights played along and it even did a rlly cool dispersing effects (i wish i could gif ugh). this is mostly also because we have the shokura version with plenty of close ups for the 1st chorus to edit in so... fine!
so this is where i get pretty pissed like why do you not zoom [2] in at
♪ 鏡に映り込んだ 冴えない顔を見て ????????
honestly its because its my favourite lyric for matakyou but its also because the lights were doing nothing and the next line of the song it became the zoomed in almost like “oh right i could zoom in here!” was it the solidarity effect? i don’t know???? but i really wanted that zoom in??? so yeah.

♪ 無限に感じてた to もう見たくなくて
i can accept the wide pan, like okay fine, i wanted to see them sitting down clearly but ill shut up because the light poles were kind of like fire and the effects were rlly pretty and you threw in some nice close ups in the mix so yeah ill try and accept it. I’ll give a thumbs up at
♪ 夜空に投げた
id say it was a really good use of effects because like nino did the move where he raised his hand up and the lights lighted and dispersed like fireworks so.. goodjob?
next we have nino doing the struggling/swaying dance move and ill give benefit of doubt that even if you zoomed in we cannot see expressions and the camera kind of gave a good pan and balanced the effects so ok. i still felt like you could have thrown in a close up at ♪ 何か終わる様な... but ... ok fine
i’ll express something i really like about the performance which is the

and how nino moved in and out of the darkness? great stage effects! this was genuinely rlly cool and rlly amazing so yah!!! amazing job staff??
for the silenced part of matakyou it’s my personal conviction to not forgive the lack thereof of closeups [3]. it’s really the climax of the song and i don’t know whatever reasons they had but i really just wanted to see how nino fell to the ground close up!! i wanted to see the emotions!!! let me see his expressions!!!!
i mean i can see you tried to do the light up of the light poles before it dispersed to match the song effect but could it not have been time abit earlier to give allowance for a closeup bc i think the silence would have fit total darkness except the nino spolight, almost like a true pause???? without the light noise and all?? yaaaaaa??? really, please???? i mean at least you did zoom in at the “tell me” later on but yaaaaaaa????
back to chorus 2, i’ll forgive the wide pan, ill look at the light display and enjoy the choreo from away, it’s evident the effort in matching the beats of the lights and doing some sort of effect and yeah, it was aesthetically really pleasing BUT why. do. you. not. zoom in. or. give. close. ups. at the high notes????? [4] like really? just abit more???? one close up??? maybe the semi close up???? why...??????? it’s like the big reveal after the climax and you’re not doing it justice ughhhhhh. the same comment continues until the line “mata kyou to onaji asu ga kuru” and then the same frustration appears. [5] why don’t you just give me the close up at the high note after? i can kinda see alrdy from far the really emotional move nino did during the high note and i only yearn to view the expressions on his face at that moment like is that really much to ask for????
the dance during the ending melody♪ coupled with the amazing light poles effect was really ok and nice and ill accept that wide pan. ill even accept the wide pan for the end on counts for the solidarity mood mentioned and to match the whole song like its’ fine.
so yeah, that sums up my very close analysis of the song. i mean, the staff/editor/cameraman probably has better stuff to do than to cater to these specific needs but like yeah. this is really just me being picky and wanting like a near perfect nino recording for this song which i really love so much and feel like deserves only perfection.
it’s my personal nino-bias thing but im just like mmmm the light poles were rlly a nice touch and i can really see it contributing to performances aesthetically. im already pretty interested in the mechanics and can only imagine the effort the technicians have to put in to shift the light poles and change the colours!! it’s just my nino-bias is screaming, did it really have to compromise close up in his solo, like the solo where every member deserves some personal screen time and hence close ups???? yeah. oh well.
tl;dr: matakyou is still an amazing solo and an amazing song and an amazing performance to me despite all these frustrations i love it. nothing really changes this fact tbh. it’ll probably stay as my favourite song and perf until something more amazing pops up or my heart changes. ill probably just vote for matakyou again if theres another arafes or ill just hope for it to be performed again so that the next dvd recording can capture better angles. sigh.
i really can understand after watching the performance repeatedly the wide pan for most parts except maybe the five marked above where the frustration over not being able to have a couple of close ups to really see clearly some expressions and really feel the solo.
so yeah. *sighs at matakyou*
