Look, I’m not saying Bruce didn’t love Jason or that he didn’t grieve when Jason died. But for goodness sake, at some point the conversation has to stop centering Bruce’s feelings over Jason’s actual victimhood. Jason was the one who was murdered. Jason was the one beaten, tortured and killed. Bruce grieving does not somehow outweigh the fact that Jason was the victim.
So yeah, if I have to choose whose pain gets prioritized; the parent who grieved or the child who was actually killed, I’m choosing the victim every time. What frustrates me is how often fandom demands or just depicts that Jason be the bigger person, that Jason move on, that Jason be better while Bruce rarely gets pushed with the same intensity.
If we’re going to talk about accountability, then it needs to apply to Bruce, not just the kid he failed.
