Steve keeps enforcing his own silence, keeps parcelling himself up to give to Tony, for Tony's enjoyment at Steve’s expense. Keeps writing blank emotional checks.
We see a lot of Tony beating himself up during the beginning of Hickman's run, in canon and in fic. Here he's angry, and it fits so well with the situation. Ki's wonderful prose makes this emotional murder.

This is not only angry fucking but also includes all the longing of being in love with your best friend for over a decade. This mixture makes it sweet which contrasts with all the bitter parts that of course are there too.

A fic about Old Man Steve and Super Iron Man, but they are essentially still Steve and Tony. They don't deny their feeling or why they still want each other.
Steve's very much in charge here, and it makes for a very great fic.
