Chapter 1
On the corner of Jay Street Malaysia was taking a much needed smoke break when she heard sirens. This being a normal occurrence in Brooklyn, she thought nothing of it and continued to inhale her menthols. As the cruiser got closer she turned her head--FUCK!! They were coming for her! Dropping everything and breaking into a full on sprint--or as fast as she could manage in stilettos and a micro miniskirt--she made a break for it. After about a block or so it was no use, there was backup in the area and she was cornered…”Great” she thought, “just what I needed today.”
“Okay Ms. Jefferies, the phones are still broken at the station so I’ll allow you to make one call out in the fresh air.” The officer handed her his police issued phone and she dialed the one number she knew by heart. *Ring, ring* She prayed he would at least pick up the phone.
“Hello? Who is this?”
M: “Hassaan baby its me! Malaysia...look I don’t have a lotta time but--shit--look I got picked up by a cop today over on Jay street and he’s bookin’ me….I know you prolly busy and all but can you come bail me out? Its only set at $250”
Hassaan: Bitch I told you not to call my house before 11pm! Just because we fuc---LOOK girl you know Aria been on my shit lately about fuckin around and I’m not tryna hear her mouth. I’m sorry I can’t leave right now--hol up--*Hassan paused and it sounded like another females voice in the background* Hello? Yeah, I can’t. My bad. You’ll be ‘iight--just hit me when you out.” And with that he hung up the phone.
Malaysian wasn’t the girl to cry, but she could feel tears welling up and fighting their way to visibility. She toughened up and realized she was on her own in this mess and weakness wasn’t an option--especially dressed the way she was.
M:“Okay, I’m ready.” The officer handcuffed her and led her into the building for the long night she had ahead of her.
