Takayama Japan I went to a little dango stand, Oba san was very lovely. I paid $15AUD for that stick of famous hida beef, it was the most incredible piece of beef I have tasted in my life. We had A5 wagyu beef hotpot, is also very famous Hida Beef hot pot. Was very delicious.

I was organizing some folders with old trip pictures and I found this one - hida beef... sushi? "Hida-gyu" (Hida Beef) is a speciality of Gifu Prefecture - I wouldn't imagine this is how I would see it being served, isn't it curious...

Hida Ryokan Meal

A ryokan meal is always special - featuring dishes from the local area, and every one is different. The delight starts at the appointed meal time, with the table usually already set with a starter flavor burst before you sit down.

Here we enjoyed local vegetables, fresh sushi, regional mugi shochu, Hida beef cooked on a hibachi at the table, and fresh river trout.

The lightly marbled Hida beef was delicious, but the fine delicate flavor of the trout was amazing…
