Why don't we put hidden passages in houses more? Having a bookcase that opens up into a small hallway that leads to an otherwise inaccessible room sounds great. I want more houses like the one in the what remains of Edith finch game.
Thoughts on Baltimore
There’s something about the decay of these big, old cities that speaks to me. I used to think it was weird that I found cemeteries so beautiful. But now, I don’t think it’s the headstones but rather the stillness. Sitting on the train, I watch as a lifetime passes me by. The crumbling stone and beautiful brick resemble a different time. I always imagine a place in its heyday. I’d never begin to understand. I always think of the simplicity but I usually ignore the hardship and struggle of those days. While the bricks might have shown brighter, the paint shinny and less chipped, it was definitely not easier.
I always imagine the hidden passages. I love the largest parts of the city where the buildings are so squished together that every now and then, a small spot of alley finally opens to the street. It’s secrecy calls to me. What lays beyond the chipped paint of that iron gate? I’ll never know so it calls to me all the more.
