I haven’t posted as frequently to this blog, in part because of the chaos that is job searching in Silicon Valley and partly from the depression that follows job searching in Silicon Valley. But that got me to thinking about how EVERYONE is pretty much online and posting content non-stop.
When I first thought about this I was thinking “Wow! It is a really crowded space, there is so much everyone that it’s impossible to really find the diamonds among gems. Then it hit me, the internet isn’t crowded at all. It, much like the universe, is ever expanding and has an insane amount of space. So much so that I feel like I can say with 99.99999999% certainty that this blog will almost NEVER be found or popular. Not even because of the content, irregularity in posting, or because of me but solely because there is just such vast “space” between me and the next interesting thing that I figure I’m practically typing privately.
It really makes you wonder how the NSA handles the sheer amount of information on the web and processes it. Of course there are filters, links between content, activity to clue in on potentially important things, but how often does anyone even come across this blog? If you, dear reader, happen to actually be reading this stuff you are likely one of a few people. I’m probably somewhere between a beliebers (oh god why didn’t spell check flag that word... please don’t tell me it’s becoming a word) fanblog and some old guy posting pictures of his fishing trip. I’m glad you found me, I hope you enjoy any of the things I say.
In reality though no one is going to pick up on this page. Do I really think that some group of people sympathize with me? Do I really think that I’m going to help anyone by typing here? Nah, this is mostly a place for me to post ideas, thoughts, rants, so that they can drift peacefully through cyberspace and farther away from me.
I’ll probably still keep it up though, this sure as hell has helped my writing (as does writing 1000 cover letters). I should briefly note, I’m aware I could always promote my blog, or even start following others and join in the big social media circlejerk, but that’s why I left in the first place. It’s almost like a diary that floating in space waiting for someone to happen along and read about another human’s deeper thoughts.
