Last Christmas
Pippa somewhat subconsciously found her way from the kitchen back to the living room. She was holding two cups in her hands - both with cocoa, as she wasn’t sure about what kind of beverage he preferred. She was paying full attention to the two cups in her hands. “Uh, here. Cocoa.” She announced, as she passed the cup to him. “I wasn’t sure what you liked so I took the neutral one.”
“How does it go?” Pippa sat down onto an armrest of an armchair, wrapping her palms around her cup.
Rough Moments of Apprenticeship
It was nearly an end of another shift. Peeking out of the window, Pippa found out that it wasn’t dark outside, yet, the watch on her wrist showed that it was a few minutes past 6.40 p.m. - that meant only a few more minutes until the shift would be over. The witch sighed as she moved her eyes towards the forearm she was bandaging. It was summer holidays, time when kids came home from Hogwarts. There was no wonder that whole England was literally on fire with all the kids running around and doing mischief.
Putting a stick on the bandage, Pippa looked up at the kid that was sitting in front of her, forcing out a false smile. “Done. Next time, avoid any sharp objects that might look like an iron wire. Or any other kind of wire, for that matter,” kicking herself off, she rolled the chair she was sitting on across the floor, in the direction of her table. Then, she started writing down a receipt, “alright, you need to go to Slug and Jiggers’ at first; show them this prescription and they’ll give you the appropriate potion. Also, make sure your daughter stays away from any sharp objects for the rest of the summer. It took me a while to put her together and I’m far too proud about my work to start over tomorrow or something like that,” climbing up onto her feet, Pippa handed the sheet of paper to the girl’s mother. She eventually realized that the last addition to her medical advice shouldn’t have been spoken aloud, but it was too late. What a pity...
Once she got rid of the two, she left the consulting room. While walking through the main corridor, Pippa took off the lime green coat (which was the most awful part of St. Mungo’s staff uniform) alongside her black pumps. She then took a deep breath, shutting her eyes closed. Not until leaned her back against the wall behind her, she found out how exhausted she was in fact.
“Stupid people,” Pippa growled, not expecting any audience.

The fifth year smiled to herself as the house elves rushed around her to clean and begin preparing for the breakfast feast tomorrow. They were used to the Hufflepuff cooking in their kitchens, though it had taken the dears quite awhile. Most students came in to get some midnight snacks prepared by the elves but Valerie had a love of cooking and felt she should make her own food.
Making her way effortlessly around the small bodies, Valerie headed for an open seat and set her sandwich down. The smells from the treats baking and the spices being blended together filled her airways. There was no place better in Hogwarts than in the kitchens.

Performing One’s Duty
Humans were always so fascinating to her. The way they moved around and somehow balanced against gravity on their legs. From time to time she would visit what seemed to be another world. The humans here used magic and held strange sticks to do it. Everything was beautiful. Curious blue eyes always seemed to sparkle in the light when watching behind the rocks as they played but for some reason, things seemed to slow.
Ariel slowly breached the surface to see what was happening today but stopped. There was a boy sitting on the side but there were no smiles, no joyous laughter. Instead he almost looked sad. Why? Inch by inch she approached, ducking behind any cover she could if she made too much noise. Long hair floated on top of the water, leaving a trail of red.
It was impossible to stop her once her mind was on it. She wanted to know what was going on without getting caught. All her life she was told how dangerous humans were but she didn’t care. They were beautiful.
