When my cats stink, which is about every couple of months, I trap them in the bathroom with me, leave the sink running on hot, and wipe them with a wet facecloth/paper towel. They don’t love it, but they don’t hate it either, and after they’ve been thoroughly wetted down they dry out nice and soft and stinkfree. Also, in summer, if you brush them while they’re wet you get a lot of the shedding undercoat out.
OOOH! Thanks for the suggestion! The old kitty girl (she’s 19+) is OK with getting wet and being around water, I just did not want to do a full bath since it’s so cold rn and she weighs in at only about 2.8kg. I will try wiping her down with a facecloth and then letting her sit in the bathroom with the heater on to dry her fur out. She’s got shorter fur so it dries pretty quickly. :)
