Okay so if I wrote a fic about Inojin being slowly pulled into a revival of the Foundation and Sai going after him (with the help of Ino) and, in the process, opening Inojin’s eyes to the way manipulation can be used and how hard Sai has worked to give him a better life than he had,
Would that be something you think is worth reading?
Wood Style is a type of kekkei genkai produced by combining the Earth and Water styles. As far as we know, there are only two people who have been able to use Wood Style: Hashirama Senju and Captain Yamato.
Hashirama Senju created Wood Style, though the intricacies of how he did so exactly are unknown. What we do know is that he used it in battles against Madara Uchiha after they both became the leaders of their clans, but not beforehand, meaning he likely developed it as a young adult. He was also able to enhance his Wood Style using Sage Art: Wood Style. He used it to enact the 10th Edict of Enlightenment (pictured below) and subdue the Nine-Tailed Fox, which was inside Madara's Susano'o.
After Hashirama's death, many people recognized the power of Wood Style, including Orochimaru, who conducted experiments on children using Hashirama's cells with the goal of giving them the ability to use Wood Style. There was only one survivor of those experiments: Captain Yamato.
Yamato is our main source of information on Wood Style. Though not able to use it to the magnitude that Hashirama did, Yamato is shown to have a deep understanding of it. During Naruto's Wind Style training, Kakashi and Yamato explain that Yamato's Wood Style comes from combining Earth Style in his right hand and Water Style in his left hand ("Naruto: Shippuden," episode 55, VIZ media). It's noted that using two chakra natures simultaneously is very difficult. Yamato also retained Hashirama's ability to use Wood Style to control Tailed Beasts, and, after the destruction of the Hidden Leaf, his Wood Style was also used to rebuild the village. He also uses it in several instances as a defense mechanism, to restrain enemies, and to establish a terrain that he can control. Very versatile!
During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Madara Uchiha used both Hashirama's cells and the captured Captain Yamato to allow himself to use Wood Style against the Allied Shinobi Forces alongside Obito Uchiha, though I wouldn't exactly call him a "user" of Wood Style because he was both reanimated at the time and using the abilities of the two Wood Style users (sorry, Madara). Nonetheless, it's necessary to mention him.
In summary, Wood Style is a very powerful and versatile kekkei genkai unique to only two users. No matter which user you discuss, the Hidden Leaf wouldn't be the same without it. Thank your local Wood Style user!
The Second Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village was Tobirama Senju of the Senju clan.
The younger brother of First Hokage and founder of the Hidden Leaf, Hashirama Senju, Tobirama was born during the Era of Warring States. He knew violence from an early age, both because of the circumstances of the time period, where clans warred against each other constantly, and the Senju clan's unique position within the era. The Senju were one of the most powerful clans at the time and constantly warred against the Uchiha clan. That specific conflict hit very close to home for Tobirama; himself and his elder brother Hashirama were the only two out of the original four Senju siblings who survived until adulthood. His other two brothers, Kawarama and Itama, were both killed by the Uchiha clan. When Hashirama and Madara Uchiha's friendship was destroyed by their respective clans using it as a way to stage a surprise attack on the other, Tobirama was brought along. Eventually, Hashirama and Madara became the leaders of their respective clans and faced each other in battle, and Tobirama killed Madara's younger brother, Izuna Uchiha.
Later, Hashirama felled Madara and urged him to join the Senju and end the era of death. Madara gave Hashirama the chance to kill Tobirama or himself to show his dedication, but later stopped him from doing the latter. Together, Hashirama and Madara founded the Hidden Leaf Village. When Hashirama became the First Hokage, Tobirama played an important role as Hashirama's advisor. Indeed, it's evident that Tobirama held a lot of respect for his eldest brother, and he supported him throughout his tenure as Hokage.
Tobirama was a stoic and pragmatic man. In childhood, he found himself dragged into his clan's conflict, though he believed that conflict was needless and could be avoided by casting aside emotions and enacting regulations ("Naruto: Shippuden," , episode 367, VIZ media). He followed that philosophy through adulthood, remaining largely calm and rational in conflict and balancing Hashirama's idealism with his own rational and cautious thinking. He was also noted to be a sensory type ninja -- pretty neat!
After Hashirama's death, Tobirama became the Second Hokage. Though not as famous as his brother's tenure, Tobirama's reign is widely regarded as one of the most influential on the current state of the village. He founded many current institutions, including the Chunin Exams, the Academy, and the ANBU Black Ops, and establishing the Uchiha clan as part of the Konoha Police Force; the Reanimation Jutsu and the Flying Raijin Technique are also credited to him (Ronquillo, 2023).
Though he is often criticized for his treatment of the Uchiha Clan, it came from a long history. Having been born in the Era of Warring States and seen the Uchiha Clan's destructive power, it was not entirely without reason that Tobirama mistrusted them. However, that criticism is not unfounded; Tobirama advised Hashirama not to name Madara the First Hokage and later became one of the reasons why the Uchiha were physically and socially removed from the village. In my personal opinion, however, I find it possible that Tobirama was keenly aware of how Madara's dedication towards his clan could turn dangerous and kept that in mind going into the future. He may have been aware of the bitterness that Madara could be fostering, seeing as Hashirama got to keep his brother and Madara hadn't -- Tobirama himself killed Izuna. That's just a historian's conjecture, though.
Tobirama was killed by Kinkaku and Ginkaku during the First Shinobi World War, and he passed the mantle of Hokage on to Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage ("Tobirama Senju," para. 8, Narutopedia).
Tobirama Senju is not the most famous of the Hokage, but his contributions to the Leaf cannot be underestimated. He saw the foundation of the village and later led it, establishing many of the institutions we've come to know today.
That's all for today's lesson! Thanks for reading!
Hello! I saw your post about writing a fic where Inojin would fall into a revival of the Foundation and that sounds like such a fantastic premise for a story! I would definitely be intrigued if you were to write it 👀
Would this be your first dabble into writing fanfiction? Or do you have other works already? If so, would you mind sharing where we can read them? 😁
Hi there!
Thank you so much for asking! The idea is filed under the "unsure" box in my brain. I've never really been good at reliably writing multi-chapter fics, and I've never written anything with heavy parenthood themes (this fic would be heavy in them, really), but there's a first time for everything! We'll see what happens!
This would be far from my first fic experience; I've been a writer for most of my life in some way or another, and I've been writing fic for several different fandoms for about three years or so? My AO3 is here! I'd personally recommend Somehow We'll Be Okay, which is a pretty good example of what I tend to drift towards.
So I watched Naruto the movie: Bonds and took notes
What is this movie??? I don't know.
Why are they flying
The lore?
Sai is unusually amazing (clarification: he had some really good moments, he's always a great character)
It’s crazy how we view female and male friendships differently from each other
Zero-tails?????
SAI??? He’s doing amazing
Why did they frame Sakura like that…
Please Yamato save him 🙏
How did he just…exit the advanced Nine-Tails stage like that? Without burns or anything? That was weird.
What is the Land of Sky bruh
Wet hair Shino
Whoah that got dark
“A person who has saved someone’s life will never be doubted.” Ouch? That kind of reminds me of The Foundation and how their unconditional obedience is bred from an early age.
The doctor basically went Super Saiyan
That gut punch hurt
Why are his muscles rippling like that 😭😭😭
Naruto says these inspiring lines and then the skidding noise ruined it 😭
The concept of laying hatred and burdens on Naruto even when he is already beaten and battered is so reminiscent of Christ to me
I can’t take a picture of it but they knew what they were doing with that one scene where Naruto takes the knife to the arm…his face, his eyes, it’s drawn so much like that one frame of Minato after being impaled by the Nine-Tails. It’s a similar situation, too: taking pain for another out of love. I wonder if that was purposeful.
WHAT IS SASUKE DOING THERE 😭😭😭
WHOAH
Shikamaru’s reaction: 😨😨😨
This whole time Sasuke’s just like 😐😐😐😐😐
Amaru holding themself up with one arm is impressive
Hello!! I’m back from my small hiatus that I forgot to announce. I gave up fandom for Lent, and that included tumblr, but now that it is Easter, I’m back!
My family and I also finished Naruto: Shippuden a couple of days ago and have started Boruto (quite the feat, I know) and I’ve started reading the Shōnen Jump Naruto manga since I didn’t watch the early anime.
The Danzo article will take a lot of research, and I’m also thinking about writing articles about Gaara’s Ultimate Defense, and Indra and Ashura and…all of that lore (whoah). But I also want to do some speculative articles!! I want to talk about the new innovations in technology that occurred between late Shippuden and Boruto, the economy of the hidden villages during the war, and how information is censored in Shinobi society.
All that to say, expect more content from this page soon!!
