Imagine having Tom take care of you while you’re sick. You’ve been in bed for days with the flu, but thanks to him, you’re finally over the worst of it. He’s made you soup, kept fluids on your bedside table, and made sure you took your  medicine every four hours on the dot. Since you’re finally getting some strength back, you head to the living room for a change of scenery and see that he’s even gotten fresh flowers to cheer you up. He really is the perfect boyfriend.

Little Blue Box - Extended Imagine

Intro

“Find something you like?” Your heart nearly stops as you look up to see him looking you straight in the eyes. 

“Oh, my god! I didn’t hear you come in!” That much was obvious. Without realizing it, you had tossed the box back into his pile of socks and closed the drawer. He starts to smile. It’s not like he hadn’t seen you with it in your hand. You didn’t dare move as he opened the drawer and pulled the little blue box back out.

“Would you like to open it?” You consider this for a moment. Of course you want to open it. If he hadn’t walked in, you probably would have. But you shake your head no as Tom takes a seat on the bed.

“No?” He’s as surprised as you are. But you already feel bad for ruining the surprise. “I promise I wasn’t snooping. My feet got cold, and I was just looking for a pair of socks,” you said.

“That probably wasn’t the best hiding spot. Not very creative, huh?” He still has that soft, gentle smile on his face - the one that could get you to do anything for him. You finally manage to say, “I’m sorry.”

“You don’t have anything to be sorry about. I love that you’re comfortable enough to be here while I’m away. I was looking forward to seeing you all day,” he says, as he reaches out for your hand. You let him pull you towards the bed, standing at the edge with his head on your chest. You finally get the hug you’ve been waiting for for weeks.

He pulls his head back to look you in the eyes, with his hands settled on your lower back, box still in hand. “This isn’t quite how I’d imagined asking you this question, but I don’t care. All I care about is being with you - forever.”

Your eyes start to fill with tears as you feel your breath escape you. You put your hands on each side of his face to steady yourself. “Thomas, I love you.”

“I love you, angel.” He leans in to kiss you, and as he does, he stands up and lifts you up on to the bed, switching places with you. When you open your eyes, he’s on one knee. He pulls the ribbon off the box and lets it fall to the floor. Your heart can’t take the anticipation; you can barely breathe as it is. You’re clutching your chest as he finally looks up at you, and opens the little blue box.

“My darling, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” Your lungs finally exhale, tears streaming from your eyes, as you say, “Yes, Thomas. Yes, of course, yes!”

He picks you up again, holding you close to his chest, and spins you around. Everything is a blur of laughter and excitement as he trips over his luggage and you both fall to the floor. When you can both finally breathe again, he realizes he hasn’t put the ring on your finger yet.

“Oh!” He reaches up to the bed and finds the open box. You finally get to see it - a gorgeous, sparkling 5 carat diamond. Princess cut, your absolute favorite. As he slides it onto your finger, you say, “It’s stunning. I can’t believe this is my life.”

“Our life, darling. Our life.”
