That was how D-ne thought of it. That was also probably how her brother thought of it. No one was kidding when they said they’d eat anything. Including other people...

Why on earth did he agree to this?

The thought ran on throughout his mind, as he waited for E-noru to knock on his door. A-ya wasn’t interesting, nor did he hold any kind of physical attraction that anyone would fall for.

No, he was just a rather boring teenager.

So why, did E-noru stop in front of everyone in the Occult Club? Why did he ask him, with that damn handsome smirk of his.. To go on a date?

A-ya sighed, adjusting the flower in his hair. Oh how silly he looked.. How the dress reached his ankles and the jacket was almost there too... His mother was the one who insisted on the clothes, stating that he looked cute and such.

Just had to wait now..

It was time for the cultural festival! Even if the occult club wasn’t really recognized as an official club, they wanted to do something different from all the other classes. It was a simple idea, really, one surprisingly proposed by B-ko, and they were a little freer to act on this idea if they weren’t really associated with anyone. Not the school, or any class, no it was better like this. That, and if they used the old school building for it, that’d be even better! Plenty of room to set up everything that they would need to.

So, the great, grand idea that B-ko had, was the cross dress cafe!! D-ne was wholeheartedly behind anything that B-ko came up with, plus she’d get to see just how good the other girl looked in a butler’s outfit... Despite some reluctance, the majority ruled in favor of going through with it, which was...really great in D-ne’s mind.

There was still some time before the festival, though, and lots of things needed to get done, though. There were decorations to set up, a menu to make, ingredient to pick up, outfits to choose... So many things... So, now that their main event was decided, it was time to settle on all the rest of the details. That was, after all, the purpose of today’s meeting.

“So. Crossdress cafe. What’re we going to serve as food?” D-ne asked, as A-ya clicked away on his phone. He was looking up something easy that they could do to serve a lot of people.

A-ya hadn’t thought it had been that long since the Demise game had started, but even just one day seemed to stretch into an eternity. B-ko had received the first letter, but it seemed like no one knew the contents but the girl who died... At least, B-ko hadn’t said anything to them during their meeting. They had all left the old building pretty tense, and he hoped that nothing else would happen...

On the walk back home, A-ya’s brain was swirling with thoughts, about the reality of the game... It wasn’t just something told to scare you now, but you could forget later. The girl that died, it easily could’ve been one of them instead. A-ya needed to find the traitor! Was there even one? There was no one to witness the murder that had already happened, so no one had any leads.. 

E-noru said we should work together, but... what if it’s one of us that’s the one to blame for all this? All I know is that it’s not me. It’s definitely not. Me.

His nerves were on edge, and he really just wanted to get home quickly. That feeling of being watched that had built up over the previous few days was making him jumpy. He felt like he was constantly looking over his shoulder, only to stare at the lengthening shadows along the sidewalk.

D-ne had replayed that scene over and over in her mind a million times. her parents had told her that her big brother wouldn’t come home that day. It was a day that she absolutely couldn’t forget... It was the day she lost the only boy she ever cared about... It was also the day that Ririka failed to answer her questions no matter how hard D-ne questioned her. No matter how many times D-ne had asked Ririka “Why?!” the doll remained silent, staring with unseeing eyes...

Today was... it was the anniversary of her brother, D-suke’s death... It was also the day that Ririka lost her voice. It was D-ne’s least favorite day of the year, and she had questioned why she had even bothered coming to school that day. Her mood had been terrible all day long, and it seemed like nothing could make it dissipate. Not even B-ko, since it seemed like she was having a hard time too. She would’ve skipped going to school entirely, if it wasn’t for the fact that there would be a quiz and a test that day, and doing makeup work was usually more irritating than just doing it on the day.

She managed till the end of the school day, but only just. It was automatic by now to head to the old school building, but her steps were heavy and slow. She didn’t really want to go. Any other day, it would’ve been fine, but today felt too...wrong... She almost turned around, but something compelled her to keep going forward. Maybe, something different would happen today.

We’re the same age now, big brother...

It was only a day after they had played Kokkuri-san together, all five of them, and there had been a death on campus. The victim was a girl, from D-ne’s class, her body found in pieces around the school. She was one of those girls who had always been hanging around B-ko, sweet on the outside, but looking for some weakness in B-ko so that she would be able to take B-ko’s position at the top of the school...

As if. No one would ever be able to replace B-ko. It was impossible. Honestly, D-ne had seen the entire scene play out, since she was always watching her. B-ko had a letter in her locker and the girl had practically begged to see it, and snatched it out of B-ko’s hands anyway... It’s not like it was B-ko’s fault or anything, that was impossible. That girl got what she deserved... Good riddance.

After school that day, D-ne had felt kind of giddy. Sure, the girl was in her class, but it was one less person between her and B-ko now. In the club room, D-ne was struggling to keep a serious face, since she’d wanted to burst with laughter. Why was this even so funny? Well, if anything, she’d get to see even more of B-ko’s wonderful faces...

Even if there were more boys than girls in this room. How were they even dealing with it? D-ne was mildly curious with their reactions as well. Certainly, their faces wouldn’t be normal by any means...

The sun was bright, D-ne was dressed up to go along with Ririka’s cuteness, and everything was absolutely perfect! All she had to do was wait for big bro D-suke to come home! He had school, and it took so much longer than hers to end...

Maybe she should get a glass of chocolate milk in the meantime. There were plenty of sweets and snacks in the house anyway, so that should work... The thing was, being all of five years old...reaching anything in the kitchen was a huge task...

Big broooooooooooo, come hooooommeeeeeeeeeeeee...

    When A-ya’s mom said she would take off work for the day,       A-ya was actually happy about it. It was unusual for him to       feel anything but apathy or annoyance, so it came as a pleasant       surprise. However, the reasoning behind it wasn’t exactly       that; A-ya’s lungs once again betrayed him, and his mom was       able to tell he was simply hiding his condition worsening, so       she forced him to stay home that day. It wasn’t that he exactly       enjoyed going to school, it was the fact that the rumors there,       and the occult club, were more or less the only activities he       looked forward to. He didn’t have much time to protest that        morning, though, for his exhaustion which grew from going to       school for multiple days ill finally caught up to him.

      It felt as if only a few minutes passed when he blinked his eyes       open -- he could’ve sworn he heard something, but was too       tired to actually investigate it. His mom had just invited       C-ta in after he’d knocked on their door. Soon, unbeknownst       to A-ya, C-ta would walk in to the teen curled up in his pajamas       and holding onto his stuffed rabbit.
