How a Fibre Optic Communication Works?
Unlike copper wire based transmission wherever the transmission entirely depends on electrical signals passing through the cable, the Fibre optic transmission involves transmission of signals within the sort of light from one purpose to the other. Moreover, a Fibre optic communication network consists of transmission and receiving circuitry, a light supply and detector devices just like the ones shown in the figure.
When the input data, in the sort of electrical signals, is given to the transmitter electronic equipment, it converts them into light signal with the assistance of a light supply. This supply is of diode whose amplitude, frequency and phases should stay stable and free from fluctuation so as to have efficient transmission. The light beam from the supply is carried by a Fibre optic patch cable to the destination circuitry whereby the data is transmitted back to the electrical signal by a receiver circuit.
The Receiver circuit consists of a photo detector along with an applicable electronic circuit that is capable of measuring magnitude, frequency and part of the optic field. This kind of communication uses the wave lengths almost the infrared band that are simply on top of the visible range. Each diode and optical maser will be used as light sources based on the application.
