ATLANTIC OCEAN (November 17, 2019) -- United States Navy Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 7) conducts high-speed operations while traveling at speeds of more than 40 knots (46 mph / 74 kph)....
....appearing to almost fly across the surface of the sea.

The very fast and flexible compact (3,500 tons; 378 ft / 115 m in length) warship, and her crew of 70, is deployed to the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility. With embarked helicopter and U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement detachment, USS Detroit will provide major support to counter-drug patrols and detection and monitoring of illicit traffic in the Caribbean....and, later in the deployment, in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
