Choices.

There are choices, and there are choices.

There are the everyday mundane things, like which socks to wear and what to have for breakfast and then there are the decisions that truly matter. The ones that keep you up at night, the ones that can change your life and make you who you are.

My choices as of late have consisted of overcoming the challenges that come with handling other peoples poor behavior and treatment. For a long time, I have seen complaining about the actions of others as a way to vent and release the anger and upset caused by such situations. I am not a person who complains about every little thing that anyone does, and I try to contain my venting to the bare minimum most extreme situations. 

I have decided to do this no longer. It is a cycle of negativity in which I have realized that regardless of my attempts to release these negative feelings in a less harmful and more honest way than those who have caused me hurt/anger, negativity is negativity.

When others start the cycle of petty words and actions, I had always done my best to keep out of it and rather than fight I back I would try to ignore it, vent about it later, try to get over it. Directly participating in violence and hate whether or not you started is a mark of immaturity and poor character. However that is not to say that I did not allow such actions to ravage my mind and agitate my emotions, the roiling tumble of negativity filling me up inside until it came spewing out to the ears of understanding friends who comforted my disquiet.

This was a choice. A choice to let others steal my happiness and peace of mind. A choice to allow there negativity to infect and sicken me, to make me angry and to lose control. A choice to maintain a weaker mind and be less of myself.

I am choosing to stop this destructive behavior. I am choosing to take control of my reactions and thoughts and instead spend them on productivity and positivity. I have realized that it is a crime to myself to allow beings whom I do not care for to have so much of me. 

My new direction of thinking is to act as a goddess would.

A goddess would not spare a thought towards such tiny and misinformed minds. A goddess would not allow others to steal her time and influence her actions.

Neither will I
