Highlight Coffee, 2071 Lincoln Ave., Pasadena, CA 91103
I’ve been to the original Highlight Coffee location in Glendale. It’s nice to see them open another larger location on the border of Altadena and Pasadena, across the street from Lincoln (café). This area didn’t have a good coffeehouse.
They don’t have a kitchen but they do have a panini press, so they offer pressed hot sandwiches. The pastries (croissants, muffins, Danish) and bread are from Bread Lounge, so you know that they’re great. The food offerings are limited though.
For coffee, they use a variety of coffee roasters, including Case, Augie’s, and Demitasse. Pour over coffee and cold brew are available. Choose from organic milk, almond milk or Oatly. They also have tea drinks.
* Cardamom bun had a hint of orange and soft texture, with a bit of crunch from the sugar sprinkled on top
* Latte ($5) was made with skill and nice foam art.
The place is laptop camping friendly with free wi-fi, plenty of small tables, a few outlets and a restroom. It’s stylishly modern and minimalist, with tables around the sides, a leather couch, cute round pendant light fixtures, cement floor, a few plants, large counter made out of light wood with a white top. The walls are white. Lots of lights.

Score: 36/50
Food: 5/5 – They don’t have a kitchen but they do have a panini press, so they offer pressed hot sandwiches. The pastries (croissants, muffins, Danish) and bread are from Bread Lounge, so you know that they’re great. The cardamom bun had a hint of orange and soft texture. Yum. The food offerings are limited though.
Coffee: 5/5 – They use a variety of coffee roasters, including Case, Augie’s, and Demitasse. THe latte ($5) was made with skill and nice foam art. Pour over coffee and cold brew are available.
Wi-fi: 5/5 – Free, unlimited, fast, ask for the password
Ambiance: 5/5 – It’s modern and minimalist, with tables around the sides, a leather couch, cute round pendant light fixtures, cement floor, a few plants, large counter made out of light wood with a white top. The walls are white. Lots of lights.
Noise: 2/5 – The sounds echo, so it’s not quiet even when there are a few people talking
Plugs: 2/5 – I spotted two
Parking: 2/5 – Surprisingly difficult given that there isn’t much around here, find two hour or unlimited parking on side streets
Comfort: 4/5 – The furniture is new. The wood chairs are not padded. There’s plenty of room though, unless you’re sitting at the communal table. There are lots of small tables and some counter seating at the window.
Bathroom: 3/5 – One gender neutral restroom
Art: 3/5 – Nothing or do the white rectangles count
Tips: They sell coffee, chocolates and random things. They also have tea drinks.
