The thing is, neglect is a form of abuse. He would leave the boys alone in a motel room for weeks on end with barely enough food or money to survive. The time dean got caught stealing money to feed Sam cuz they had no food, john said to just lock him up. Also, he was emotionally manipulative and abusive. Yes bobby was an alcoholic, but he's also not their father and was in no way responsible for their care or wellbeing. I'm not saying john was a bad person, but he did abuse those boys.

You know, abuse is not a word that should not be used lightly. it’s a complex situation that requires a lot of insight. Neglect is abuse when it’s a recurring situation. A parent who fails to pay the energy bill once and needs to keep the kids in the dark for one single night is not neglectful or abusive, they are poor. You cannot shout ABUSE every time a situation doesn’t look as pretty as it should, especially at first glance and when we don’t have all the facts.

This one situation you’re using to condemn John as abusive is full of nuance. First of all, as far as we know, that was not a common event. I know the fandom has this idea that John was never around and at the same time he was abusive drunk all the time AND he trained that trained them to be soldier. One believe negates the other, unless John was so super-manipulative- genius drunk that could be in several places at once. Also, we don’t know what happened to John at that time and the whole “leave him in jail” thing came from a third person. we never found out if John actually said that or the guy was just trying to get to Dean. Btw, when he left the boys, he didn’t leave to go party and get high, he left to fight monsters and save lives!

Please give some canon facts that john emotionally manipulated and abused the boys that doesn’t come from villains that hate the Winchesters, from people who want to manipulate them and for any biased source that wasn’t actually present to witness their lives and I’ll listen.

If you want to headcanon that John was abusive, that’s cool! I respect that. But the truth is, as it stands, there’s nothing on canon proving he was abusive. Did he make bad life choices? Canon! Did he try to emonitanilly manipulate his sons to his own ends? headcanon!

As for Bobby, you’re absolutely right, he was an alcoholic, they were not his responsibility and he didn’t raised them.

first off just the sci-fi worldbuilding is Amazing and within the first five minutes you go, “oh of course we would fight an alien invasion with giant mind-controlled robots!”

the characters are all so great and well-rounded and the Cinnamon Topography

the colors are gorgeous and the dialogue is simultaneously witty and inspiring??
