idk man something about sam genuinely liking and respecting john when he isn't forced to be his perfect soldier son is so special and tragic to me. like. i do believe sam hates the guy but i also think he understands him on a molecular level. and that's just. the fucking worst isn't it. growing up and forgiving your parents not because they didn't hurt you but because now that you've finally escaped the helplessness of your childhood you're realizing that the man sitting across from you isn't some irredeemable villain but like......just some guy? trying his best even if it's actually the worst. something happened to him and something happened to me too and it's so hard not to recognise that same wound in each other. "hey dad, whatever happened to that college fund?" "spent it on ammo" isn't that so fucked up. that you tried. and you failed. but guess what im spending my adult money on these days? i wonder if when they laughed about it. just for a second sam thought. man i could've been friends with this guy. too bad he's responsible for half the things that are wrong with me.

I do not think John winchester was a saint, but God Do I wonder if I am wrong in the way I view John's deeds. Like I see them claim John is this evil incarnate who shouldn't have been in heaven and how he destroyed his boys and how he abused them and made their life hell. Now I recognise his actual flaws of making dean parentified and the way he neglected his children but I guess what was he suppose to do? I mean his wife was killed by something supernatural. He knew in this world what existed. He shouldn't have parentified Dean or neglected them, but training them wasn't wrong. No he shouldn't have been that harsh to them during their childhood but He did good with training them. Look how adam situation turned up. He tried to leave his one son alone and he still suffered the same fate as his other two sons. The fact remain that winchester were chosen people. Their whole three generation were destroyed. Both set of grandparents died due to demons. Mom and dad died due to demons. Kate, Adam's mom died due to a momster and all three sons suffered due to angels, demons and what not. What was John, a tiny ant in this whole globe was supposed to do.

While its okay to dislike him but claiming he is worse than everyone and thinking he doesn't deserve heaven or he hated his sons is a lie. He may not love them conventionally but he loved them in his own ways. He deserved that years in hell if you want but he wasn't anywhere close to lucifer. And if they think John is bad, how do they claim Cas is their friend and he is this important and cas would kill john and dean would cheer. Cas hurt both winchesters in ways far worse than John. Even adam was dragged in this mess due to angels.

I always cackle at the claim he "destroyed his boys." Yeah, maybe he shouldn't have taught them anything and they would have died in season 1. I think that would have been better. He should've just taken them to ball games, to the movies, the park, taught them to bake, etc. Have them end up like Adam. There would be no stupid fandom now, no crying over how evil him and Sam were, we just, wouldn't exist. That would be so lovely. Lol
