Jackson, MS - Macon, LA
No fun bike ride to a coffee shop this morn, instead the two little ones left Lil Poot to some alone time and went for a walk around the campgrounds. It turned out to be another beautiful morning by the water with another cool 98% humidity. Unlike yesterday we decided to walk which led to a much higher level of comfort and equally low level of sweat. On the morning walk we saw a lot of the same bird activity with the addition of an extremely bright, blue Blue Bird hopping from limb to limb.
Back at the camper David made a delicious meal of egg and an English muffin along with two hot coffees for the team. Working beside the water, with all the windows open, over looking the active water way was another peaceful work day in Jackson MS.
The two bees logged of work around 4:30PM Central time and headed for the Mississippi! We crossed The Mississippi River in Vicksbrug MS and had a lovely welcome to Louisiana with nice, smooth, country roads. The drive for the rest of the way was calm and groovy until a cop decided they were not fond of our loud music and under-the-truck lights and pulled us over. We WERE cruising at a comfortable 55mph, along with the speed limit, but made a nice maneuver to the shoulder so the cop would have ample room to stand beside Lil Poot and write us a mean ticket. As David was panicking, trying to remember as much French as he could from his two semesters at Hoggard, reasoning out if it would be helpful to introduce himself before the cop has a chance to speak, showing his cultural knowledge of the state to get on the cops good side, or wait for his fate and try to weasel his way out of the fine with a few “ah, la biblioteca!” and “J’plage Wrightsville Beach!”
Before David worked his head around speaking before being spoken to, the cop whizzed by followed closely by a school bus. “Huh, prison transport.” exclaimed David with a sigh of relief and a good chance of being incorrect. With a clear idea of what to do when pulled over, David guided Lil Poot back on the road excited to be pulled over for real, for a chance to shoot some french at a cop before he can shoot, whatever cops shoot, at D-man.
Lil Poot swerved into a food store in Monroe, LA so the two humans could shop for provisions. They went to the equivalent of a Sam’s for food and got what they needed. Shortly after Lil Poot took them to a nearby walmart trying to make sense of them stopping for groceries before heading to a grocery store… Hannah fixed Asian ground turkey over white rice and the two started True Detective over dinner.
