Most of her days were spent going through the motions. Get out of bed, wash her face, eat. Before Peeta came back to the district, it was worse. She struggled to get out of bed, to eat, to live. She hadn’t known how to live her life without her mother and Prim. Even now, her chest ached any time she thought about her sister. Sometimes it appeared in the middle of her day when she least expected it. Sometimes she woke up with it and it hung around for the whole day.
Today was one of those days.
She sought out Peeta, a ghost of a smile flickering across her lips when she found him. “I was going to go to the woods to hunt. Would you like to join me?”
