They absolutely did miss each other and are desperately in love with each other while being in total denial about this fact, as we know. They were genuinely relieved to see each other and it was their own decision to kiss. But it was also a very heightened/emotional/magical moment, which I think let down some of their inhibitions and made it easier for them to actually go for it. It will not be as easy for them the second time, when they have to make a conscious decision to do it and to face what it means.

This is because, as ever, they are scared emotionally wounded turtles, and Feelings (especially like this) are hard for them (especially You Know Who). But I am 30% hopeful that it won’t take another 50k words, so.... we’ll see.

I just want to say: Holy sweet slow burn, Batman! While it's very frustrating for me to look at how slow Lucy and Flynn are progressing, I LOVE how well you're taking them through this. Can't wait for chapter 18!!! (And please make sure the Russian brothers are treated well)

The fun thing about fanfic is that it has no space/size constraints like published books, so they can be as long as you want (which is a good thing for me, as my multi-chapters tend to average 200k+, and I’ve written some 600k/400k absolute monsters) and cover as much narrative/story ground as it takes. So while no, these idiots have not banged (or even kissed) in SSM yet, that is not the whole point/reason for the story, and while I dearly hope we will get there eventually, lol, there is plenty to see along the way.

After all, I am trying to create a hopefully fun and exciting story with a detailed and imaginative setting, memorable supporting characters both historical and fictional, a lot of Snark ™, UST, banter, pining, and the other stuff that makes fic what it is. I have noted that I didn’t plan to rush the slow burn, because it is the good part (even if yes, we all want the OTHER good parts, Lucy and Flynn could pick it up just a little before we die of old age. Ahem). So anyway. Yes.

And also, I love that everyone loves the Sokolovs, and they’ve barely had a dozen lines of dialogue yet. Bless.
