In honor of the Fourth of July, here’s part one of a little floral fireworks display: a view of the unopened flowers on a cyme of wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa). Next up: the actual flowers (plus insects, because why not). If you live near me, I highly recommend the show over at Hildacy Farm Preserve in Media, Pennsylvania — they started blooming a few days ago, and they never disappoint.
