UPDATE 3 | Hilma Sassa

After Wallpaper Magazine, I took a much needed break but also worked on other things, I took part in events which is something I am very much interested in due to the interaction with people as I believe you can make connections and it a way of networking but also to improve my communication skills.

I worked at ICA:Art Night for Jennifer West, was a long night as I was based in Covent Garden and had to interact with people non-stop as the installation was interactive with the public. Afterwards I worked for Vibes on the Roof, in which I was “lucky’ enough to be a stage manager but also had other roles, was a long day too and I was able to see the event form beginning till end being involved from conception was a good feeling since it was a great turn out and made great connections, that have offered me some jobs to do as a freelancer.

During July, I went back to Marby & ELm for a week, and afterwards I joined Duchamp and Sons Bootcamp at Whitechapel Gallery, which was a whole week full of activities and was also ran by Hato Press, which I also got the chance to visit Hato Press and do some Riso Printing, was a fun week with diverse design activities from book binding to printing and exploring the gallery.

UPDATE 2 | Hilma Sassa

After completing my work at Marby & Elm, I spent around a month looking for y next internship w couple of interviews and a lot of maybe’s, but also wroked on personal projects to keep busy and to improve my skills, then I heard about Pergola on the Roof here in our blog, and thought it would be a good chance to improve my illustration skills.

Pergola on the Roof is a Rooftop with restaurants especially made for the summer, they needed help illustrating I think 16 flight of stairs so it was a lot of work and a lot of drawing but it was fun and the end look is amazing, every wall was covered and also the elevators.

At the same time I started my 6 weeks internship at Wallpaper Magazine, which was very last minute but since I wanted more magazine experience and seemed like a great opportunity.

While I was there I worked on two issues, mostly doing small things but seeing the process and the dynamic of a big office was fun, also very intense when deadline was coming. Also was able to take part of an interior’s photoshoot, and that made me respect photography so much more as you may think a shoot was so simple to be done but could take hours to get the perfect shot and every small detail counts, it’s a process made me appreciate more the process of creating a design project and how much the process matters.
