maybe what you called “shittier” could more descriptively be called “more terse”?
Hmm... Except I see the "shittier" one as being more verbose, since I have more panels to work with. But I think I see what you mean, since the "shittier" one captures only a single scene, so in terms of time span of the scene and time spent reading, it's much shorter. ::shakes fist at comic vs. text time/space issues:: The "shittier" and the "fewer" are both conceived as modifications of the word "panels". Basically I can't spend 15 hours a week drawing 5-8 full-color panels, so the solution is to either have fewer panels or draw each panel with less effort. I personally think of it as "shittier" = mini-comic, "fewer" = picture book.

Direct answer: actually preferred the way the dynamic of the ‘shittier’ comic came across (felt more natural?), but if I was artist I’d go for fewer because I’m a perfectionist. :P Your choice. :)
Thank you! What's funny is that I'm more of a completionist than a perfectionist? Like, once I start something, I REALLY want to finish it. It... might be why my creative work skews on the "quantity" side rather than the "quality" side, and probably why I'm more of a comics person than an illustration person -- I'm always asking "what next?"
But oranges8hands also said that they preferred the "fewer" version. So I think it's also about whether the reader prefers something more comicky or picture-bookish. The picture book can definitely get more compact information across (due to the text), but I think the comic is better at expressing a certain mood.

Like/reblog is usually instinctual/gut level response. Answering polls requires rational decision making. It’s like unconscious vs conscious answer. At the end, how you use the answer depends on your objective.
Hey! That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for explaining! :D Yeah, it seems like the reply responses are people who have given it a lot of thought, and were taking both my desires and their own into account...
I think I'm going to end up going with "shittier", since that ends up practicing more of what I care about, which is comics flow and layout. The time breakdown for each is:
"Shittier": 2 hrs layout, 2 hrs ink, 1 hr tweaking and shading (total 5 hrs)
"Fewer": 0.5 hrs layout, 1.5 hrs ink, 3 hrs color, 1 hr tweaking and ficcing (total 6 hrs)
Much as I enjoy focusing on a single image and adding more color and shading and rendering, at the end of the day I want to learn to tell a better story in the comics medium. And with "Shittier", I get to spend half of the time doing that (vs. only 1/6 of the time for "Fewer").
Right now the 2 are pretty tied as far as likes/reblogs are concerned, so unless "Fewer" gets a sudden surge of support from the intended audience, I'll probably go with "shittier"?

This story is for Hime. Because when life gives you lemons, you make yourself limoncello! You can't expect God to bring it to you personally. I think you are a wonderfull person and you can be proud of yourself. This story you can tell anyone who thinks it's better to sit down and wait for a miracle. You are a miracle yourself, you got tools, you got chances, grab them, cherish them, share them. *chu*
God Will Save Me
A terrible storm came into a town and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately.
A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.”
The neighbors came by his house and said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car, please come with us!” But the man declined. “I have faith that God will save me.”
As the man stood on his porch watching the water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.”
The floodwaters rose higher pouring water into his living room and the man had to retreat to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!”
The flood waters rose higher and higher and the man had to climb up to his rooftop.
A helicopter spotted him and dropped a rope ladder. A rescue officer came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand and I will pull you up!" But the man STILL refused, folding his arms tightly to his body. “No thank you! God will save me!”
Shortly after, the house broke up and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned.
When in Heaven, the man stood before God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?”
And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more were you looking for?”

I can feel you, dude. I barely had Indonesian friends back then too, if only because I just... can stand it.
yes.. yes. i mean, of course not all of them are like that! but most are, and they're very fond of gossiping about other indonesian that are not ~the same~ with them, doing the same thing; or spending money the same way. sigh.
Levi's Tea
21 March, year 845.
That thing that Mikasa calls Levi in the drama CD
I'm helping Hime1999 to do a cleanup of the drama CD translation.
You know that part where Mikasa calls Levi the Sadistic Cleaning Freak? I'm hearing it as 人類最強のsadisticな変態掃除男 (jinrui saikyo no sadistic na hentai souji otoko) (I would have put the "sadistic" in katakana but stupid tumblr has cut my post off there 3 times already so apparently IT WILL NOT ACCEPT MY KATAKANA).
ANYWAY back to my point. It is such a bloody long description to encapsulate in a snappy phrase. I'm thinking:
Humanity's Strongest Sadistic Freakish Cleaning-Man (quite literal and keeps all the terms)
Humanity's Strongest Sadistic Clean-Freak Man
Humanity's Strongest Sadistic Clean-Freak (snappier, but leaves out the Man bit)
Humanity's Strongest Sadistic Freak Cleaner (courtesy of fuku-shuu)
Any thoughts?
