The note, written in fine blank ink, words a particular curve from years of experience and work, quite beautiful yet somewhat blurred and ragged, was placed upon her dresser, folded neatly to look normal, nothing more than a simple paper, but when opened would contain words beyond disbelief...

To be writing to you, surely you must be wondering why I would take my time to write to you of all people. Do not mistaken my words though, you are a lovely girl and I appreciate the time we have spent as acquaintances. I thank you for your friendship, if our time together could even be cataloged under such a title. Alas, I do not write to you for this, but to tell you of my misfortune. I wish to apologize beforehand, I realize I should not have gotten you into this mess I will commit, or perhaps have already committed as you read this note, but who else could I have written to? Surely none of the royals, not my family, not my friends because they would not understand, and somehow I believe just perhaps you might out of all those I know.

Understand, Zhen, the feeling of emptiness, of life weighting down after years. I have lived twenty six years, and now I wonder if that has been long enough. Many have barely reached eighteen when they are sent into battle and die, I have been quite fortunate, have I not? To still be alive, to be were I was up to this day? I could have died years ago had I not found a job here, but now I have nothing. I no longer have a family, the one I could rely on has died, and  I have nothing, I am nothing.

By now I have most likely disappear. Do not worry, you have no need to go running to the royals and speak of this. Princess Kougyoku might notice, after all I have been by her side for a long time and today we were meant to meet at the library for her studies. My absence, I do not know what it will do to her, perhaps nothing, I have never quite understood Kougyoku. But alas, simply wait. It is all I ask. They shall notice. Do not be burdened by this letter, I apologize again, but by now I have already killed myself.
