Himlung Expedition (7126m): A Remote Mountain Adventure in Nepal
The Himlung Expedition is a 32-day climbing trip to Mount Himlung (7,126m). It is in a very remote place in Nepal near the Tibet border. This climb is good for people who already have experience climbing mountains above 6000m and want to try a higher peak.
The journey starts from Kathmandu. Then we travel on rough roads to Besisahar and Koto. After that, we walk into the quiet Nar Phu Valley. This area is very peaceful and has few tourists. On the way, we pass small villages like Meta, Kyang and Phu Gaun. These villages are old and simple. People live a traditional life. We can see prayer flags, stone houses and small monasteries. Phu Gaun village is a very special place. It is calm and beautiful, surrounded by big mountains. Many climbers rest here to get used to the high altitude before going higher.
After reaching Himlung Base Camp (4,900m), the climbing starts. There are four camps on the mountain. Each camp is higher, colder, and more difficult. The air becomes thin, and climbing gets harder, but the mountain views become more amazing. Climbers go step by step with help from Sherpa guides and proper equipment. At the top (7,126m), we can see many big mountains like the Annapurna range and Manaslu range.
Himlung was first climbed in 1983. Today, it is known as a good training peak for climbers who want to prepare for bigger mountains like 8000m peaks. During this expedition, Nepal Social Treks & Expedition helps with guides, food, tents and safety support.
The Himlung Expedition is not just about climbing a mountain. It is about a long journey, learning new things and seeing the quiet beauty of remote Nepal.
