Scientist Falls 70 Feet Into Mountain Crevasse — And Lives

"An American climate scientist fell into a 70-foot crevasse on Mount Himlung in the Himalayas, and he lived to tell the tale.

Western Kentucky University professor John All was conducting climate research in Nepal on Monday when he suddenly fell, breaking his arm, five ribs and dislocating his shoulder."

"Életem egyik legkeményebb pillanata"

John All amerikai hegymászó felvétele a gleccserhasadékba zuhanás utáni pillanatokról.

John All hétfő délben szenvedett  baleset a Himlung (7200 méter magas csúcs az Annapurna régióban) 2-es tábora környékén 6000 méter körül. Egy több mint 20 méteres gleccserhasadékba zuhant, ahonnan sikerült kimásznia és a táborba vonszolnia magát. A keze eltörött, belső vérzése van, a helikopter nem érkezik. Sikerült mentőhelikoptert szervezni és mindannyiukat lementeni, jelenleg Katmanduban lábadozik.

John elmondta, hogy jelenleg viszonylag jól van, a felkarcsontja és öt bordája törött el, ráadásul a válla is kificamodott, amit csak 32 óra múlva tudtak a helyére tenni.  A belső vérzés elállt és a felgyülemlett vér eltűnt. Törött a térde is, és van egy seb a bal szemén. De túlélte és már a következő útját tervezi Peruba!
