This Doctor borrows his face from Philip Hinchcliffe (born 1944), the celebrated producer of Doctor Who from 1974 to 1977, who also worked as a screenwriter and script editor. Kara Dennison’s story takes the Doctor to the Noble Keep on Idrotha, a world free of serious crime where even the tiniest infractions are punished, and pits him against the trial by ordeal known as the Gauntlet.
