Orchha Kingdom - An Architectural Marvel. Orchha was founded in the 16th century by Bundela Rajput King Rudra Pratap. The palaces and temples within the fort complex were built over a period of time by successive Maharajas of Orchha State. The famous Chhatris of Orchha are cenotaphs that were constructed in honour of its erstwhile rulers. Few Notable structures: 1. Ram Raja Temple It was initially the palace of the queen of Orchha. It is the only place where Lord Ram is worshipped both as a God and as a King. 2. Laxmi Narayan Temple An intriguing mix of a fort and a temple, its walls are elaborately decorated with fabulous mural paintings, which show compositions from mythological themes.
