The woods are not malevolent.  The leaf strewn ground and clustered tree trunks are comforting.  Rustling leaves overheard are a companionable noise beside your footsteps.  But before rainstorms, when the light turns grey, you see them, from the corner of your eye, leaning out from behind the trees to watch you pass.  Walk on, they are merely curious.  Only get back to your car before the rain starts.
